By Rob Markman Fans are still grasping with Snoop Dogg's decision to morph into the reggae artist named Snoop Lion, but the changed didn't come out of the blue. Before the Doggfather was able to properly transform into Snoop Lion and record his upcoming reggae album, Reincarnated,the 20-year rap veteran had to first get the right inspiration. "We was looking for the creators, some of the forefathers," Snoop told MTV News on Monday. At the top of the list was reggae's greatest voice. "Most definitely Bob Marley, off the top, and the Wailers," he said. "Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer, Gregory Isaacs, Jimmy Cliff, Barres [Hammond], most definitely." To record Reincarnated, Snoop first got a blessing from Bob Marley's son Rohan and then made a pilgrimage to Jamaica, where he formed a bond with the Niyabinghi branch of the Rastafari movement. Musically, the newly crowned Lion partnered with Diplo and Major Lazer to help with the production but kept the features to a minimum. During a press conference Monday, Snoop excitedly explained his mission. "The spirit called me. Any time the spirit calls you, you gotta know it's serious and real," he said to a room of gathered press. "I wanna bury Snoop Dogg and become Snoop Lion." With his transformation, the Los Angeles rap icon hopes to leave his old ways behind. Gone are songs like "Murder Was the Case"; instead, Snoop is now preaching positivity on new songs like "No Guns Allowed" and "La La La." "I always wanted to make a song that could stand for something," Snoop said. It seems that reggae music has given the global superstar the perfect outlet. "My early memories of reggae music was always a room full of smoke and just the way you danced to it. It was seductive and sexy and it was grown, then underneath it all, it had a message to it," he said. "You can hear the message in some of the songs. On his latest LP the Maybach Music CEO pays homage Eric B., on the track "Ten Jesus Pieces." At the request of host Sway Calloway, an unsuspecting Ross began to recite the lyrics, stumbling for a moment through the brand-new material. "I do this for my n---as facin' hard times/ Can't do this if you on the corner hustlin' part-time/ Ten chains, Eric B.," he spit, focusing on getting his words right, not noticing that the man he was rapping about had suddenly appeared before him. The stoic MMG boss grinned ear-to-ear, his grizzly beard parting ways to reveal a pearly white smile. After he stood up to greet the man whom he admired as a youngster, Rozay paid homage. "From the music to the fashion to the way you carried yourself, it was always just Don status," he told Eric B., who dropped his debut album Paid in Full alongside Rakim in 1987. "From my wardrobe today, all your LP covers still inspire what I do today. Paid in Full, that's #1." In the late-1980s, it was pioneering groups like Run-DMC, N.W.A. and Eric B. and Rakim who would breathe new life into the music that so many critics labeled as a fad. Not only did they revolutionize the music, they each brought a unique fashion sense to the game. But while DDoS attacks usually stop after a point has been made or the attackers get bored, the Demonoid admin explained that he had more on his mind. “There might have been an attack from another angle, an exploit of sorts, but it’s hard to tell right now without a full check of everything,” he told TorrentFreak. What that attack is, or was, remains unclear, but today even more problems are becoming apparent. On July 1 and then again today Aug 2, the domain entries for Demonoid.me were updated and now the URL is redirecting to straight to adverts. Unfortunately – and we presume this is something Demonoid’s admin would be completely against – some of those adverts contain a virus and other malware. Today, TorrentFreak contacted Demonoid’s admin to ask about the current situation but we are yet to receive a response. That said, we are not overly optimistic about the site’s health and future prospects. To begin, while Demonoid’s admin told us that he would eventually bring the site back online, he clearly has other things on his mind. A really important family event puts a torrent site nowhere near the top of his priorities. Also, the site redirecting to ads, without so much as a “Demonoid is down for maintenance” homepage, is not a good sign either – particularly when those ads serve up malware. Next, Demonoid has been experiencing staffing issues this year. As we mentioned in an earlier article, there were rumors that one or maybe more Demonoid staffers had been questioned by authorities about their involvement in the site. Details are scarce, but according to sources pressure may have been mounting for some time. Readers of our [url="http://torrentfreak.com/leaked-report-reveals-music-industrys-global-anti-piracy-strategy-120725/"]earlier article[/url] detailing IFPI’s anti-piracy strategy will recall that the music industry group said it had taken “strategic action” against Demonoid. It is also worth noting that pressure on file-sharing sites ratcheted up several levels in January and February this year following the raids on Megaupload. Recently the sneaker brand recruited another superstar from the borough, Nicki Minaj, to appear in their latest adidas Originals commercial. The new spot also features Big Sean, Chicago Bulls player Derrick Rose, Sky Ferreira, K-Pop group 2NE1, and Kids These Days all sporting their own creative, colorful and original style. In the ad, we're taken to all corners of the world, while marching to the soundtrack of Nicki Minaj’s “Masquerade" We first caught wind of the commercial in a tweet sent by fashion designer, Jeremy Scott, this past April. He shared that Nicki was being followed by both the paparazzi and her legion of Barbz during the shoot. He also tweeted a group picture featuring Nicki rocking one of his designs. Scott, the prolific designer, who you might hear A$AP Rocky namedropping on songs, caused a bit of controversy within the hip-hop community a few weeks back thanks to one of his outlandish designs. In June, photos of Scott’s latest sneaker design “Roundhouse Mid Cuff Handcuffs” were previewed on Addidas' Facebook page. It was met with backlash from consumers calling it racist and insensitive to slavery. It immediately became a Twitter trending topic and was dubbed “Shackles." Scott says the sneaker was inspired by Pet Monster, a children’s toy from the ‘80s, but Addidas ultimately issued an apology and halted the release of the sneaker. In the new issue of Vibe, in which Meek and his Maybach Music Group cohorts share the cover, Meek opens up about his feelings for Rihanna. “I got a girl at home, so it ain’t nothing I can entertain or say I’m involved in when I’m not,"' says Meek about his girlfriend in Philadelphia. He does add, "Yeah, Rihanna is my type, [but] pretty chicks are my type.”' Following the bottle-throwing incident at club W.i.P in NYC this summer, many speculated that those in the alleged mix--Meek Mill, Chris Brown and Drake--had issues with one another due to each having romantic ties with Rihanna. Fox's president of production, Emma Watts, stated that while everyone involved wants to do the project, waiting for the right time is a priority. "Ridley is incredibly excited about the movie, but we have to get it right. We can't rush it," she said. It's unclear whether Watts meant waiting for Lindelof's schedule to clear up, but we'll have to wait until at least 2014 or 2015 to see what's next from the universe. God forgives, but Rick Ross won't if you don't tune in to the next episode of "RapFix Live."Rozay will hit the couch Wednesday to talk with Sway about his highly anticipated God Forgives, I Don't album, out now. "I knew approaching this album, I wanted to approach titling it a lot different from previous albums. I wanted it to be strong and impactful," the Maybach boss told MTV News of his new LP when he sat down for ourHip-Hop Music Preview. "The first half is God Forgives: It's a lot of us need forgiveness. I Don't represented the street aspect of life. I feel we have both sides that we deal with in life. I gave 'em one of those feelings that it was a motion picture, a masterpiece, five-star." Rozay's road to release was a bumpy one. Originally, God Forgiveswas planned for a 2011 drop, but after Ross suffered a pair of seizures in October, he took a little more time to focus on his health and prepare his latest work. Still, MTV's Hottest MC in the Game has stayed plenty busy by dropping his critically acclaimed Rich Forever mixtape at the top of the year and then MMG's Self Made, Vol. 2 in June. "If you doubted us being here three years ago, five years ago, you don't understand hip-hop, you don't understand the power of rap music," he told MTV News earlier this month.
