Stream New LPs From bEEdEEgEE, Kevin Morby, Beachwood Sparks, and Lumbar Via Pitchfork Advance

Brian DeGraw, who's best known for his work in Gang Gang Dance, releases his debut solo album under the name bEEdEEgEESUM/ONE, December 3 via 4AD. The album features vocal contributions from his Gang Gang Dance bandmate Lizzi Bougatsos, Hot Chip's Alexis Taylor, CSS' Lovefoxxx, and Douglas Armour. SUM/ONE is streaming now on Pitchfork Advance, our immersive music streaming platform designed to emulate the classic album experience. It will be available until December 3.

Woods bassist and the Babies co-founder Kevin Morby makes his solo debut with Harlem River, out November 26 on Woodsist. The record features contributions from fellow Babies member Justin Sullivan, Cate Le BonWhite Fence’s Tim Presley, and more. Listen to it at Advance until November 26.

Los Angeles alt-country rockers Beachwood Sparks will release a remastered version of their previously unreleased 1997 debut album Desert Skies on November 26 via Alive Naturalsound Records. The release follows their 2012 album The Tarnished Gold, which was the band's first record in a decade. Listen to Desert Skies here. It is streaming until November 26.

Doom metal supergroup Lumbar, featuring Aaron Edge (Himsa, Iamthethorn, Roareth, Brothers of the Sonic Cloth), Mike Scheidt (YOB), and Tad Doyle (Tad, Brothers of the Sonic Cloth) releases their debut album The First and Last Days of Unwelcome on November 26 via Southern Lord. Stream it here until November 26.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
      You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention. 
      But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
