Jack White Launches Third Man Books

Jack White has launched a book publishing imprint through his label Third Man. It's called Third Man Books. The first commercially available title is a 321-page hardcover book of poetry, prose, and art called Language Lessons: Volume I, accompanied by a 2xLP compilation. It's out August 5.

Language Lessons is co-edited by Chet Weise and Third Man's Ben Swank and housed in a hard-case clothbound sleeve. Contributing poets and authors include Richard Hell, the Pulitzer-nominated Dale Ray Phillips, National Book Award finalist C.D. Wright, Pulitzer and National Book Award finalist Adrian Matejka, Tav Falco, and many writers who have never been published.

Meanwhile, the recorded music spans jazz, psych-punk, blues and pop featuring William Tyler, Destruction Unit, Ken Vandermark, Sampson Starkweather, and others. 

The box also contains five broadside poems suitable for framing.

According to a press release, "The occupations of the anthology’s contributors range from teachers, morticians, librarians, software developers, actors, and taco chefs to bartenders, farmers, musicians, and parents. Although from all over America (and beyond), almost 90% of the contributors read in Nashville at a DIY series called Poetry Sucks."
