Exclusive 'Battleship' Blu-ray Featurette Rocks The Boat

When it came to making "[url="http://www.mtv.com/movies/movie/435857/moviemain.jhtml"]Battleship[/url]," it turns out the movie's biggest villain was actually the ocean.

Director Peter Berg decided that he wanted to film a good portion of the movie on the open seas. But as you can see in the exclusive clip we have from the "Battleship" home video special features, that was much easier said than done.

"The physicality of working in the water is very difficult. Normally things take twice as long as you think they will," stunt coordinator Kevin Scott said in the featurette. "We had up to 85 people in the water. We had people jumping from as high as 35 feet. We had explosions, we had fire, we had everything."



Even Berg seemed to have a difficult time with it, as we see him threaten to become sea sick in one moment in the above clip. But the cast felt that the difficult filming conditions all ended up being worth it in the long run.

"It was nuts, man, in every way. I think that sort of encompasses the whole film. We're all in. It's all or nothing," leading man Taylor Kitsch said. "It was quite intense, just to be out in the ocean. There's things that happened that you can't rehearse."

Rihanna, who was born and raised in Barbados, actually felt pretty at home in the watery set.

"It's great. We couldn't pick a more perfect place to do this film," she said. "It really helps you get into character and get an idea of the intensity of the situation."

"Battleship" is available on DVD, Blu-ray and digital download starting August 28.
