Jermaine Jackson is speaking up in hopes of seeing an end to his family's very public, but internal battle surrounding the treatment of matriarch Katherine Jackson, the custody of Michael Jackson's three children (Paris, Prince and Blanket) and Michael's estate. The Jackson brother issued a statement yesterday via Twitter in which he begs for the fighting to cease, so that the family can come together. "Enough has become enough," he wrote.

Jermaine goes on to say, '"After much soul-searching, it is clearly time for us to live by Michael's words about love not war. In this spirit, I offer this statement by way of extending an olive-branch. Accordingly, I rescind my signature from the letter which was sent to the Estate, and which should never have gone public."' Jermaine is referencing a letter that was sent to the executors of his late brother Michael's estate.

On the confusing whereabouts of Katherine, Jermaine says that he never meant to keep Katherine from seeing her grandchildren and that the family was just '"worried a call home would first entail, or lead to, conversations with individuals we are in dispute with and that would, therefore, increase pressure on Mother—and pressure was what a doctor said she didn't need. This was why we went to the house in Calabasas to talk directly with the kids and merely discuss arrangements for them to meet with their grandmother."'

The very public tiffs have played out in the media as well as via social media. Addressing this, Jermaine says, '"Moving forward, the most effective way to best serve Mother's welfare, and that of Michael's children, is to start a collective dialogue, in private. Mistakes have been made and irrational things have been said on both sides in a highly-charged emotional environment. It is time for us all to draw a line in the sand and move towards peace, co-operation, love and healing. I truly hope that we can find it in our hearts to do so. Because above and beyond anything else, what matters...is family."'

But Jermaine seems optimistic for the future and confident in the family's resiliency. '"Mistakes have been made and irrational things have been said on both sides in a highly-charged emotional environment. It is time for us all to draw a line in the same and move towards peace, cooperation, love and healing. I truly hope that we can find it in our hearts to do so. Because above and beyond anything else, what matters…is family."'

This all comes on the heels of a new revelation that Janet Jackson did not fight, verbally or physically, with her niece Paris and previous media speculation was unfounded.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
