Jon Favreau Confirmed As 'Jersey Boys' Director

[url="http://www.mtv.com/movies/person/20182/personmain.jhtml"]Jon Favreau[/url]'s next act will be all song and dance. [url="http://moviehole.net/201256205jersey-boys-movie-begins-casting-for-a-january-2013-start"]Moviehole[/url] confirmed rumors that the writer-director-producer's next project will be directing a [url="http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2012/06/05/jon-favreau-jersey-boys/#more-77103"]film adaptation[/url] of the Tony Award-winning musical "Jersey Boys."

The musical tells the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, chronicling the forming, rise and breaking-up of the popular band from the 1960's to their 1990 induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. John Logan ("Hugo") is writing a script for the musical, which will begin production in early 2013 in New York and New Jersey. No casting announcements have been made.



"Jersey Boys" hit Broadway in 2005 winning four Tony Awards, including best new musical, and a Grammy for best musical show album. There is no release date for the film adaptation yet.

This news comes as the latest of a string of projects with Favreau's name attached to them. He was [url="http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2012/07/25/jon-favreau-wolf-of-wall-street-jay-baruchel-robocop/"]recently cast[/url] in Martin Scorsese's "The Wolf of Wall Street," is an executive producer for NBC's new drama "Revolution," and will direct "Magic Kingdom" with Disney. Additionally, he'll reprise his role as Happy Hogan in "Iron Man 3" next year and appear in crime comedy "Identity Thief," which also hits theaters in 2013.
