John Williams' iconic score may get an encore in "Jurassic Park IV" as early as 2014. That's the release date producer Frank Marshall has his eye on, and it lines up with the timeline Steven Spielberg laid out at last year's Comic-Con, when he confirmed that they had a story for the film.

Marshall told Collider he's excited to see what the filmmakers can do with a fourth trip to Jurassic Park after 13 years of technological advances since the last film. "That's what's gonna be great about it,
he said. "Technology's taken a leap now that we can really do some great things." That doesn't mean, however, that production will abandon the prosthetic work that brought the dinosaurs to life in the first three films. Marshall said that the use of "practical dinosaurs not only feels real to the audience, but aids the actors in their performances."

Just last month "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" screenwriters Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver were brought on to write the script, and while it's clear that Spielberg is heavily involved in the film, he will not be in the director's chair this time.

If the film is going to be hitting theaters during the summer 2014 season, news of a director and cast shouldn't be too far behind.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
