G.O.O.D. Music covers the August/September issue of  Complex just as Def Jam confirms that their compilation LP  Cruel Summer is actually due this fall, on September 4.

The announcement came just as Complex magazine unveiled their August/September cover featuring Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music crew. Yeezy, Common, Pusha T, Kid Cudi, Big Sean, 2 Chainz, John Legend and Q-Tip all appear on the cover, but because of his no-press policy, 'Ye doesn't appear in the cover story. Head shots of the eight members of West's collective are arranged on the black-and-red cover in the form of a cross with the words "In G.O.O.D. We Trust" written on the bottom.

In the cover story, the crew speak in a roundtable-style interview about Kanye's influence on the collective. "Kanye put himself in a class that nobody can match, as far as evolving, progressing, and taking the best of what we learn and making more out of it," Big Sean said. "So the brand is just being the coolest. We dress the best, we rap the best, we sing the best, we look the best."

Pusha T , who originally pegged Cruel Summer for an August 7 release, said that the G.O.O.D. Music crew is "limitless," and together the MCs talked about how Kanye challenges them to be better, suggesting that they use specific music. In the story, the Clipse rapper reveals that he originally passed on the Throne's "N---as in Paris" instrumental.

2 Chainz, who is described as an unofficial member of G.O.O.D. Music, spoke about his unique relationship with West. "I'm not officially signed, paperwork-wise, to G.O.O.D. Music. But I have a great rapport with 'Ye," he said. "I've talked to 'Ye 1,000 times about trying to make this situation work for the both of us, so it won't feel like anyone is getting used or anything. I'm in a position in life where I like talking about things like that. I came from a situation with DTP, being under Luda, where I got a phobia. Sometimes when an artist signs another artist, they're so worried about themselves. And with 'Ye, he helps everybody."

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
