Nas Continues Old School Embrace On 'Loco-Motive' Featuring Large Professor

Nas released a new track yesterday (July 2), continuing his re-embrace of traditionalist '90s rap and setting up the July 17 release of his new LP Life Is Good. Listen to "Loco-Motive," the new single featuring Large Professor and produced by No I.D., after the jump.

The New York ode opens with a rumbling train and swampy boom-bap beat. "At seventeen, I made $17,000 livin' in public housing," he raps. "Integrity intact, reppin' hard/ They asking' how he disappear and reappear back on top/ Sayin' 'Nas must have naked pictures of God or somethin'.'"

"Loco-Motive" follows "Nasty," "The Don," "Daughters" and the Rick Ross-featuring "Accident Murderers," which fans have considered one of the strongest hot streaks in the veteran rapper's career. Large Professor, who is featured on the hook, produced three tracks on Nas' breakthrough Illmatic.

For Nas, it's a return to form where he's focused on capturing the skill, storytelling and bravado that made him a legend in the first place. "It's been a long time; it's been years since I released a solo studio album, so this record is everything," he told MTV News recently. "This is everything that I've got to say – I guess you've got to live a little and you put that in your music, so it's coming from my life."

Nas will perform tracks from Life Is Good at the ESPY Awards on July 11, while "Daughters" have entered Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart at No. 91.
