Clothing and Jewelry that Whitney Houstin once owned were auctioned off for a total of $80,000 this past Saturday (March 31). The auction was held at Julien’s “Hollywood Legends” in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, only blocks away from where the singer was found dead on February 11.

Originally, in 2007, 5 dresses and 3 ensembles were court-ordered to be auctioned off to settle a storage debt Houston owed to a New Jersey company. However, on Saturday, items such as 2 sets of earrings and a vest obtained from the set designer of the 1992 film, “The Bodyguard,” sold for $8,500.

The gray velvet gown Houston wore to Clive Davis’s pre-Grammy party in 1996 sold for $11,520. Also, an embellished bustier with beading, rhinestones and pearls sold for $19,200 according to the auction website. The bustier was worn for several concerts and was lost in a storage auction according to the company.

On Monday fans also got the first look at Whitney Houston in a trailer for the upcoming film "Sparkle" where she stars alongside Jordin Sparks. Before the icon's tragic death in February, the movie was set to be Houston's big return to the silver screen, her first since 1996's "The Preacher's Wife."

Whitney Houston’s mother, Cissy Houston, will finally speak out about about the loss of her daughter with New Jersey news station MY9, in an interview set to air tonight. The interview was taped at the Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey where the singer’s funeral was held. "I'm not there yet. I don't think I'm any more courageous than anyone else,” Cissy Houston says in the interview. “I am a true believer in God, if I could bring her back I would, but that's not possible,” Cissy Houston told MY9 in the interview.”

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
