Just hours after Super Bowl XLVI MVP Eli Manning and his gridiron champs touched down on their home turf with the Vince Lombardi trophy in tow, across the water two of New York's rap Giants united for their own night of musical history. Jay-Z successfully pulled off another memorable New York show, this time at the prestigious Carnegie Hall with assistance of his Queensbridge connect, Nas. Keeping the guest appearances to a minimum for the evening, Hov brought out the lil homey for an electrifying performance of his famed anthem, "New York State Of Mind." Jay-Z and Nas' most recent pairing at Carnegie is the latest in a long line of dates the duo have etched in concert halls throughout the Empire State.

1) Jay-Z's "I Declare War" concert
Originally percieved as Jay's night to air out his rap associates, the Brooklyn MC actually turned the evening of a supposed bloodbath into a lovefest, ending his long battle with then-nemesis Nas in front of thousands of shocked fans, hinting that a partnership was on the horizon. "All that beef sh--is done, we had our fun," he said. "Let's get this money."

2) The Apollo Theater
Nas hit the West Side Highway exiting at 125th Street for a gig with Jay at one of New York City's landmarks, the Apollo Theater. Celebrating his American Gangster album release, for the first time Jay-Z and Nas performed their collaboration, "Black Republican" together in front of the Harlem audience.

3) Rock The Bells
The annual summer tour billed with God's Son as the shows headliner was at full throttle in Jones Beach off Long Island when Esco invited out the God MC to join him on the watercraft stage. Backed by a live band, the lyrical tandem performed their song "Success" off Jay's American Gangster album followed by "Black Republican. "Nas, let that bitch breathe," Jay yelled before going into his grumpy verse about being bored with all the spoils that go to the victor. "I used to give a f---, now I give a f--- less/ What do I think of success? It sucks."

4) Nas' Hip-Hop Is Dead Album Release Party
For his first project released under the Def Jam umbrella, Nas ushered in the next era of his career with an album release party at the glitzy Capitale theater joined by then Def Jam CEO, Hov, Fabolous and more.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
