Robert Downey Jr. Drags On 'Sherlock Holmes'

We've been having fun trying to dissect everything that's been teased or featured in the "[url="http://www.mtv.com/movies/movie/456685/moviemain.jhtml"]Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows[/url]" promotional campaign, without getting too detailed or spoilery of course. From the look of things, it's clear that there is a lot going on with new characters and supervillains and such. Director [url="http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1676018/sherlock-holmes-robert-downey-jr-guy-ritchie.jhtml"]Guy Ritchie told us [/url] that this movie is like the first one but on steroids, for example, and while one of those obviously amped up elements are the action sequences, there also seems to be a lot of Holmes dressing up and down in a variety of disguises.

When MTV News caught up with [url="http://www.mtv.com/movies/person/17609/personmain.jhtml"]Robert Downey Jr.[/url] recently we asked him what he enjoyed most about all the costume changes and the pros and cons of men dressing in drag.

"Many of them are disguises, some of them are innovative, but pretty much the entire opening of the film I'm wearing a Chinese dress Gui, which I enjoyed very much," he said with a smile.

In addition to the Gui, Holmes spends time as a bell hop, an elderly man, curtains and wallpaper and dressed as a woman. We asked Downey Jr. what it is about men in drag that never fails to draw a few laughs, no matter the situation.

"I don't know. It shouldn't be funny if they're meaning to do that," he said. "In this case he's trying to provide a convincing disguise. I think what's funny is Holmes dressed as a woman busting in on Watson and Mary on their honeymoon. That I like."
