Made U Look: Jay-Z Covers GQ's 'Men Of The Year' Issue

Saying that Jay-Z has had a big year is quite the understatement. For starters, his Watch The Throne album with Kanye West has been certified platinum and their joint tour in support of the LP has sold out cities across the country. GQ is celebrating his victorious year by placing Hov on one of the covers for their annual “Men of the Year” issue and in a candid interview the mogul speaks about his latest album, working with Yeezy and of course his personal life and the inception of, “Bey-J,” or “J-once.” Here are a few highlights from the interview.

Jay explained that Kanye is a perfectionist, who obsesses over micro-details. "I think he just can't help himself," Jay says. "He puts so much into everything, and he's like, 'You have to treat it like I treat it.' It drives you crazy sometimes—like when you've put seventy-five versions of a snare on one song and he's like, 'No!' and you're like, 'Come on, man.' "

He talked about the pain his father caused in his life when he left him and his family at such a young age. "If your dad died before you were born, yeah, it hurts—but it's not like you had a connection with something that was real," Jay says. "Not to say it's any better—but to have that connection and then have it ripped away was, like, the worst. My dad was such a good dad that when he left, he left a huge scar. He was my superhero."

Addressing his first child, Hov reveals that he will definitely be changing diapers, and looks forward to putting the car seat in the Maybach. "Wouldn't that be great? That would be a great picture."
