In a little over 24 hours, concertgoers will witness hip-hop royalty in the flesh when megastars Jay-Z and Kanye West kick off their North American fall tour in support of their collaborative album Watch The Throne. The city of Atlanta will have two days with "The Throne” before the duo head out to North Carolina. In anticipation of the tour, co-sponsor and entertainment platform VOYR–clever name, right?–will be providing exclusive backstage content for fans. A trailer produced by VOYR has hit the web, providing a brief glimpse of what fans can expect.

The black-and-white trailer opens with the final seconds of the current single “N---as In Paris," and the word “zone” begins to flash onscreen before Kanye’s impassioned chant. Images of stage lights and fuzzy silhouettes of crew members shuffling along with cables and wires come next. Light shows and special effects also show up in the trailer with stagehands and production assistants working intently on a show rehearsal.

Although Jay-Z doesn’t appear in the trailer, a skateboarder in leather pants and high-end Air Jordan sneakers whizzes by. One could assume that this is the Kanye West himself. Another shot of the back of the man’s head also appears, but identifying the mystery figure proves to difficult. At the end of the clip, fans are urged to join VOYR’s website.

As reported earlier, VOYR will be broadcasting the kickoff show in Atlanta via a live stream on Friday night (October 28). Don’t forget to sign up and check out The Throne in action.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
