'Avengers' Villain Tom Hiddleston Talks 'Thor 2'

Not only that, we spoke with their primary nemesis: [url="http://www.mtv.com/movies/person/1012264/personmain.jhtml"]Tom Hiddleston[/url], who stars as Loki in the Marvel team-up.

Beyond chatting about "The Avengers," Hiddleston weighed in on his upcoming return to Asgard in "[url="http://splashpage.mtv.com/tag/thor-2"]Thor 2[/url]," which is being directed by "Monster" helmer [url="http://splashpage.mtv.com/2011/10/13/patty-jenkins-is-directing-thor-2/"]Patty Jenkins[/url]. The actor described his interactions with Jenkins thus far and where he thinks the story of "Thor 2" should go.

[b]The Last Laugh[/b]
Sad news in the geekosphere: "Star Wars" icon Mark Hamill, who has supplied the unforgettable voice of the Joker over two decades of fantastic Batman projects, is stepping away from Gotham City for good. Hamill announced his [url="http://splashpage.mtv.com/2011/10/20/batman-mark-hamill-joker/"]Joker retirement on Twitter[/url], leaving his work on "Arkham City" as the last time he'll ever voice the Clown Prince of Crime. Here's hoping for a change of heart, but regardless, thanks for all of the fantastic Joker memories, Mark!

[b]"Akira" Moves Forward[/b]
It's the ill-conceived adaptation that refuses to die: [url="http://splashpage.mtv.com/2011/10/20/akira-garrett-hedlund/"]a live-action, Americanized "Akira"[/url] continues to move forward, receiving an official green light at Warner Bros. and locking in Jaume Collet-Serra as director. "Tron Legacy" actor Garrett Hedlund is reportedly the front runner to play Kaneda.

[b]"X-Men" Do Battle[/b]
Speaking of anime, the "[url="http://splashpage.mtv.com/2011/10/20/x-men-anime-exclusive-clip/"]X-Men Anime[/url]" premieres on G4 tonight (October 21) at 11 PM ET, starring Scott Porter as the voice of field leader Cyclops. We've got an exclusive clip from the anime for you, featuring Cyclops, Wolverine and a whole mess of robot corpses. Enjoy!

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
      You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention. 
      But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
