Pour up a little gin and juice and toast to the Doggfather. Today Snoop Doggy Dogg celebrates his birthday and hits the big 4-0. Since he first appeared on Dr. Dre’s “Deep Cover” in 1992, the Cali canine captured the ears of hip-hop fans across the globe and became a fan favorite, as well as an inspiration for up and coming MCs.

During Wednesday’s edition of “RapFix Live” Game sent Snoop a personalized birthday message. “Snoop is 40, I don’t know. I think somebody is probably lying about that. I really think Snoop is 25,” Game joked. “Snoop is one of those guys that don’t get old man, but if it definitely indeed is snoop’s 40th birthday— if I’m 30, Snoop’s gotta be 40, so happy birthday big homey.”

As far as a birthday present—well, we’ll let Game tell it, “If I had to get Snoop Dogg a gift? I think weed always suffices with Snoop,” he said.

In March the D-O-double G dropped his 11th solo album Doggumentary and on Tuesday Snoop celebrated early at Hollywood’s Rolling Stone Lounge, where he performed alongside Bootsy Collins. Dr. Dre, Warren G. and Chaka Khan also attended.

On Wednesday, however it was back to work as Snoop and Wiz Khalifa filmed the video for “Young, Wild & Free,” the Bruno Mars-assisted track off of their Mac And Devin Go To High School movie soundtrack.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
