Fans awaiting the return of legendary Queens MC Nas to his hardcore hip-hop roots should be pleased by the rapper’s work of late. Released earlier this summer, “Nasty” showcased the longtime veteran going in over a hard Salaam Remi track reminiscent of his earlier work in the mid-90s. Over the weekend, photos surfaced of video shoot for the first single from Esco's tentatively titled tenth album Life Is Good and the visuals showed the Queensbridge fixture standing alongside an old friend as well.

Website The Life Files was on hand to shoot exclusive pictures of the set and the shots showcase a smiling Nas who looks at home amongst the gritty landscape. Smiling in a few shots and seen walking the QB streets in a black tank top and a bunch of jewelry adorning his neck, Nas moved amongst the throng with some shots showing him engaging the supportive public. Former collaborator and friend Brooklyn rapper AZ also showed up on the set with the pair posing for a photo op.

Nas did manage to bring some of his flossy flair to the hood with a grey luxury vehicle parked curbside in Queens. There was also a shot of Nas in the back of a limo surrounded by a bevy of beauties. Other shots show the artist decked in a black suit while walking down the block of his hometown and showing off his watch to one of the neighborhood citizens.

Fans have been hopeful for a return of the artist that gave the Hip Hop community the classic album Illmatic. With his single “Nasty” and a memorable performance alongside fellow vet Common on “Ghetto Dreams,” Nas may very well be on his way back to rap prominence.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
