Leftroom kicked off their fifth birthday celebrations in style in April with Seth Troxler and Maya Jane Coles joining Matt Tolfrey behind the decks. The road blocked event at a secret London warehouse will be followed by the second in the series on Saturday August 6. Taking over one of the capital’s freshest and most vibrant venues, Red Gallery, the party will showcase more Detroit talent as well as key players that have made Leftroom’s current success possible.

Visionquest’s Ryan Crosson already heads the bill, but joining him as a surprise guest will be one of house music’s most revered producers. Consistently surprising dance floors under a variety of alias, as a dark solo live act or heading up his own full band, the US born DJ/producer will bring his DJ talents to bear for this special occasion. Crosson rides in on the wave that has seen his Visionquest collective becoming the most in demand act new act in house. The Berlin based, Detroit born artist will be showing off the talents that have taken him world wide as a DJ and seen him releasing on labels such as Spectral, Minus and Supplement Facts. His Birds and Souls project with Sergio from Benoit and Sergio has also caught the ears of the tuned in heads. In support will be Leftroom label boss Matt Tolfrey and Christian Maiden of Leeds party Twaddle.

Heading up room are two of the label’s core producers, Inxec and Mark Chambers, both will need little introduction to London’s dance floors. Inxec flies in from a global touring schedule that reflects his relentless work over the past few years. His portfolio reads impressively with releases on Cocoon, Rekids and Culprit becoming DJ favourites worldwide. Known for his intelligent style and the odd cheeky edit, Inxec can take his place among the DJ elite. This is something that Mark will be aiming for in the coming years and will be looking to take fellow newcomers Laura Jones and Sam Russo with him.

With the Leftroom friends and family out in force and a great coup for the surprise guest – we cant wait to reveal his identity – this will be one of the strongest nights of house and techno in the capital this year.

INXEC has been carving out a reputation as one of the most innovative producers in house and techno. With his tracks getting hammered by the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, Sven Vath, Richie Hawtin, Luciano and many more, its not hard to see why INXEC is in such high demand both in the studio and behind the decks. By the early 2000’s he was releasing prog edged house music for labels such as Renaissance & Distinctive under the guise Sound Alliance. Fast forward to 2003 and the burgeoning techno sound had bitten Chris, who by that time was playing regularly at venues across the UK, such as The Bomb & Stealth. By 2005 his production talents were honed to the extent that Jay Haze signed him to the much-converted Contexterrior label, and Chris proceeded to produce a string a highly acclaimed EP’s for the label, which brought him huge recognition within the techno scene and beyond. A string of high profile remixes were to follow, massive labels like Yoshitoshi, Cr2, Tuning Spork, Renaissance, Greatstuff, Kismet, Saved, Esperanza and many more, as well as a highly acclaimed string of collaborations with long term friend Matt Tolfrey. Fast forward to 2009 and Chris’s production talents were picked up by the worlds biggest techno label Cocoon, which has helped catapult the Inxec name into the upper stratosphere of the house and techno community. During the last 4 years Chris’s constant DJ gigs and touring has seen him play some of the worlds most prestigious clubs including Fabric, The Cross, London, Watergate Berlin, Minimal Hospital in Italy, as well as a much lauded residency at Harry Klein in Munich, which sees him grace the decks at least once a month where touring permits. With more hit releases and remixes on their way as well as tour of the USA, its clear that INXEC’s star is firmly in the ascendance.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
