Posted ImageIn what was a historic night for Depeche Mode last night at their launch of Teenage Cancer Trust’s 10th anniversary of gigs at the Royal Albert Hall, the band were sensationally reunited on-stage with ex-band member Alan Wilder, after a wait of 16 years.

Wilder appeared as a special guest during the show to perform 'Somebody' with Martin Gore. A well-kept secret was finally revealed to an unsuspecting audience at the moment of the first encore, in what was the band’s first-ever show at the Royal Albert Hall.

"Dave contacted me a few weeks back and asked if I'd be willing to join them on-stage,' says Alan.

'He assured me that everyone in the band was into the idea. I was very happy to accept, especially as it was all in a good cause and we were long overdue some kind of reunion of this sort. It was great to see everyone again and catch up a bit, and it was also the first time I have actually 'seen' Depeche Mode perform!"

In a night of firsts and rarities for Depeche Mode, they also played a nape-prickling version of 'One Caress’, 'Home’ and 'Come Back’ with strings, for the first time in 17 years.

This unique and memorable show was in support of the Teenage Cancer Trust, with all proceeds going towards the charity. You can relive the moment by purchasing the show from depechemodelive.com – once again, all proceeds go to the Teenage Cancer Trust.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
