The holiday season is kicking into high gear, and so are the holiday parties. Be the partygoer who helps make one of those holiday get-togethers a smash hit with a portable Bluetooth speaker. Thanks to Walmart's Black Friday early access sales event, you can snag a seriously awesome deal on an older version of one of our favorite portable speakers.

As of Nov. 22 at noon ET, Walmart+ members can get the JBL Charge 4 for $89 at Walmart; everyone else can grab the deal at 3 p.m. ET. That's $90.95 off its normal price of $179.95 (though Walmart lists the model at $129, as it's been discounted over time). That's a savings of 53%.

The JBL Charge 5 is our favorite overall portable speaker, and the JBL Charge 4 is an earlier model that still packs a similar punch. This powerhouse of a speaker is small but mighty. It's sleek and attractive and brings the sound in a big way. Boasting 20 hours of playtime and IPX7 waterproofing, it's a simple and reliable way to bring entire playlists with you to share with a whole house full of guests. And if someone spills the punch all over it? It'll still work. Its bass is punchy, its treble is crisp, and best of all, it truly bumps. And isn't that the most important thing when you're listening to Mariah this holiday season?

It's easy to sign up for a Walmart+ membership, which will run you $98 per year or $12.95 per month (there's an option for a free 30-day trial as well). When you're a Walmart+ member you'll be able to shop the latest three-hour early access portion of Walmart's Black Friday Deals event. You'll also enjoy additional benefits like free shipping that requires no order minimums, fuel discounts, and a free subscription to Paramount+. You'll want to be prepared when these deals go live so you don't miss out.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
