Urge Overkill will start work on a studio album in March. It will be their first record since they disbanded in 1997.

"King Roeser and Nash Kato will be going through songs in March to pick the gems for a new album" Urge Overkill manager Matt Shurar confirms for Undercover News.

King and Nash put the band back together and tested the water with four shows. That has now expanded out to a full blown tour across America, their first in seven years.

Before we see the studio album, we will most likely have a live CD and DVD from this tour. "The show at Maxwell's in Hoboken was recorded" Matt says, with the intention of releasing it as a DVD.

Urge Overkill originally formed in 1986 and reached their peak when their cover of Neil Diamond's 'Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon' became a global hit with thanks the movie Pulp Fiction.

This is great news. UO were one of my all-time favorite alt-rock band--If they come anywhere near when they tour I highly recommend everyone go out to see them because they are very tight and have excellent songs, good performers too. They had this whole 'aristocrats on stage playing elegantly and sipping martinis' image that they cultivated to good effect. Supersonic Storybook is imo their most consistent release--I reccomend it to anyone who hasn't listened to them before to start there. They were critically acclaimed in their day, but unfortunately were just one of a number of excellent alternative bands from the late 80's-early 90's that just didn't get the airplay and media attention they deserved. Glad to hear they are giving their long-time fans & anyone else who missed them back in the day another chance to check them out.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
