Hotflush returns to London for the first time in over a year to present REFLEXION, a new concept putting members of the core roster alongside artists who reflect the deep, forward-thinking philosophy of the label. In its first incarnation bossman Scuba and high-flying Dense & Pika are joined by Function, the techno titan long admired by all in the Hotflush camp for his seminal work on Ostgut Ton and as part of Sandwell District.

Needing no cues, Scuba has long remained part of the fabric in London’s scene, despite residing in Berlin. Continually pushing the boundaries with events, releases and everything in between; he has spearheaded the label into being one of the most respected imprints of modern times. LWE regulars might remember the outstanding set he played in the car park at Tobacco Dock for Drumcode Halloween.

If 2013 was the year that the hype started bubbling, 2014 was the year that Dense & PIka lived up to this; becoming one of the most talked about producers in the country and beyond. Representing the new breed of techno DJs in London, Dense & PIka’s bass driven and industrial sound has allowed them to make present-day classics.

One of Techno's true underground heroes, Function has been engrossed in the music scene since the mid-90s and has refused to follow the trends ever since. This is best reflected in his album, “Incubation”; which combines ambient layers and atmospheric sounds that are routed in classic electronic traditions.

Support comes from Hotflush label manager and Berlin DJ stalwart, Jack Haighton, also the man behind sought-after digger edits series, Editions Haighton.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
