For our UOTR After Dark Halloween Special, we are joined by once again by none other than Mr Norman Jay. As the Good Times founder, Member of the British Empire and all round good egg, Norman has represented the entire spectrum of black music, from soul, funk, disco, reggae and jazz, right through to the more contemporary sounds of house, garage and drum'n'bass.

Norman's legendary Good Times sound system, has been the go-to spot at Europe's largest street party, the Notting Hill Carnival, for 30 years.

Good Times was THE party that changed the face of the Notting Hill Carnival and which has become a summertime fixture at festivals worldwide. Jay set up his first sound system, Great Tribulation, in 1979 with his brother Joey, which became Good Times in 1981, the start of a 30-year residency at Notting Hill Carnival. Norman changed the face of the music.

Joining Norman is his original (then pirate radio) Kiss FM campadre, Colin Dale. To call Colin Dale "legendary" is no over-estimation,here is a Dj that has been one of London's most cutting edge Djs for over 20 years and still continues to surprise and marvel. For 16 years "Abstrakt Dance" was a ground-breaking show which quite simply bought Techno to the masses and made him a household name worldwide.

As well as being a regular guest at clubs such as Fabric, Rex, Pasha (Buenos Aires) and Love (Brazil) Colin has toured the Worlds clubs extensively and in doing so playing the best parties.....Dance Valley, Full Moon, Tribal Gathering, Sunrise, Energy, Love Parade, Automatik and Rage @ Heaven. Fast forward to today and it’s all systems go, there’s the new revamped Abstrakt Dance record label with excellent productions, a new studio in London and also regular “Wildlife” nights. He is still as busy and popular as ever these and is featured in the Sony publication All time 100 DJs.

Hosting the Boudoir is a party that has been causing quite a stir across London in the last twelve months, The Dance Assembly. Their inventive take on retrospective music has ensured their trips down memory lane have been a sell out!

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
