Cathar is Steve’s latest incarnation and it is a collaboration with Jessica B, herself no slacker behind the mixing desk, that allows them both to explore their affection for psy-trance; expressing it as a studio project and live experience. The fruits of their labour can now include the full-length feature album The Union, released by London’s source of psy-sauciness Free-Spirit Records whose own back catalogue is quick becoming the embodiment of delectability via diversity. The Union, other than the closing track which maybe the first example of psy-dubstep, is a part homage to Steve’s earliest influences of this Trance genus, Goa, fused with other, almost indistinguishable, elements from across the spectrum. Rippling with stripped-back, no-nonsense go-forward. The Union’s few frivolities and balance of clear endeavour with driving intensity permitting Cathar to stand firm in comparisons with their contemporaries and a must for those who believe divinity is a direct derivative of dancing. SONIC WAVE CONTROL Sonic Wave Control is a progressive psychedelic trance act formed by Jay OM (aka OMsphere / Journey) and Steve Morley (aka Cathar / Cosmic Warrior). Both have already enjoyed a long musical career in a variety of musical styles and have spent many years perfecting their production skills. After meeting each other at the start of 2011 they developed a strong bond based on their love for psychedelic music and studio equipment. This resulted in a series of studio sessions together, which right away produced some outstanding music. Jessica B started working as a producer and DJ in 2005 instantly receiving recognition and praise for her first releases, which gained massive Radio 1 support. During her career, Jessica discovered her love for psychedelic music and teamed up with Steve to form their new group. His earliest psychedelic-rock influences were forged playing guitar in local bars in Milan and his romance with the decks began in the late 80's whilst working for a local radio station where he was given the opportunity to spin his first record. This love firmly in place the move to London followed in 1998. In 1999 he started djing professionally as Jay OM and since then has been rocking the crowds at many of the biggest venues in London as well as outdoor parties in the UK, Europe, South America & South Africa. In 2003 he studied Sound Engineering and Music Technology and began solo production under the name Journey. In 2009 started a progressive project under the name Omsphere and in 2011 a collaboration project with Ralph K under the name Crocodile Rangers In 2004, he conceived the vision of a network of like-minded artists in the psy-trance and ambient genres, all working to promote themselves and each other under one banner. Thus the Free-Spirit label was born... Originally intended to focus on artist management, the label's skyrocketing success combined with the enthusiasm of Jay, the artists, and fans enabled Free-Spirit to outgrow its horizons.
