Donda allegedy ignored Aboolian's orders and had the procedure anyway, but not by Aboolian. Lt. Fred Corral said Monday that preliminary information from Centinela Freeman Regional Medical Center, where she died on Saturday, indicates that her death is the result of "complications of surgery." Patricia Green, a publicist and consultant for West, initially told the press that Donda passed away after cosmetic surgery. According to the Associated Press, she retracted her statements, claiming she received conflicting reports. An autopsy will is scheduled for Wednesday. She was 58.

This is the discussion topic for: Moby Gives His Music Away to Indie Filmmakers Sure, when making that film that has been stuck in your head for years, you can choose tracks by the Beatles, U2 or Bob Marley. You know what? That will get you sued if your film is a success. Well, at least one musician out there is lending a helping hand to filmmakers in need of music for their films. Variety.com reported this week that Moby is giving away 44 unreleased tracks for use by indie, nonprofit and student filmmakers (11 instrumental tracks from "Hotel," six from "Play: B Sides" and three from "18."), which are available on mobygratis.com "The biggest complaint I hear from my friends who are indie filmmakers is that they can't get calls returned from record companies or that licensing quotes are outlandish," said Moby. "Whenever I tell anyone about this, people keep expecting a catch. There isn't one." Users just register at his site where they can download the music. If a film's creator finds distribution for their work, or they are creating something for commercial purposes, they can apply for "an easy license, with any money that's generated being given to the humane society." Moby said, "I structured it so that it's impossible for me to make any money from it." He's planning to make 20 more tracks available on the site by the end of the month.

This is the discussion topic for: Radiohead Responds to Download Stats: Says They're False Radiohead has decided to respond to the previous coverage of their social experiment of offering their album online at a name-your-own price. According to a study (by comScore), only 38% of downloaders paid something while the 62% majority paid nothing. And of those paying, most paid less than $4. “In response to purely speculative figures announced in the press regarding the number of downloads and the price paid for the album, the group’s representatives would like to remind people that… it is impossible for outside organisations to have accurate figures on sales. However, they can confirm that the figures quoted by the company comScore Inc are wholly inaccurate and in no way reflect definitive market intelligence or, indeed, the true success of the project.”

The seventh studio effort from the Get Right hitmaker was released last month and sold only 53,000 copies in its first week, prompting reports the J.Lo would be dropped by Epic Records (Sony BMG). The label is reportedly fed up with Lopez's poor record sales and the extravagant costs to maintain the artist, including an album cover that cost US$60,000 and a make-up fee of nearly US$8,000 for each promotional appearance. Epic Records says, "Lopez costs too much money and doesn't sell enough. The woman requires everything short of flying monkeys to get on a stage."

Cox was headlining the Red Noise event at the La Rinconada Terrace venue when, ten minutes into his set, a gunman opened fire in the audience. Police are yet to release details of the shooting, but the incident is thought to be gang-related. Video footage of the shooting has begun circulating the internet (see below). Cox said: "I am deeply shocked and still stunned by the events of this Saturday. My condolences go out to victims that were caught up in this horrific act. I am informed that it was gang-related, and feel so sad that anybody would act in such a manner when the event was full of 7000 people having fun. This is NOT what the dance scene is about and is a million miles away from what I want to do, or promote."

This is the discussion topic for: Creative sheriff enrages Ozzy Osbourne When police in North Dakota were hunting around for a way of bringing in hundreds of petty criminals on outstanding arrest warrants, they hit on the novel idea of inviting them to a fake party the night the rocker was due to play a local arena, reports The Guardian. More than 30 people turned up at the nightclub in Fargo hoping to meet the former Black Sabbath frontman and reality television star. They were promptly arrested. But Sheriff Paul Loney had never bothered to ask how Osbourne might feel about having his name used to lure the criminals. "Sheriff Laney should be apologising to me for using my name in connection with these arrests," Osbourne said in a statement. "It is insulting to me and to my audience and it shows how lazy this particular sheriff is when it comes to doing his job." The sheriff was unapologetic, saying that the greater good of the community had been served. "We meant no disrespect toward Mr Osbourne or his show," Mr Laney said, adding that the people on his guest list had evaded arrest for years. "They get very creative in how they abscond from the law," he told reporters. "We just got real creative in how we reeled them in."

The pair - who have been friends for years and have frequently partied in Los Angeles since David moved there this summer - are hoping to finance their own big screen project. Snoop said: "David and I go back years. No one would have thought me and my boy David would have anything in common because we come from such separate worlds. "But he has the dollars at his disposal and we're talking about putting our money together to do a movie. It's incredibly exciting." The 36-year-old rapper also revealed they are considering launching a fashion line together, and joked David takes style tips from him. Speaking on his upcoming TV documentary 'Father Hood', Snoop said: "We both love fashion and we might even do a fashion label. I think he got his idea to have cornrows in his hair from me, which is great."
  14. this is the discussion topic for: Oasis to start recording sessions Oasis will finally get down to the serious job of recording their new studio album from next week as sessions begin at Abbey Road studios. Speaking to BBC 6Music, band leader Noel Gallagher revealed the band have already completed work on two songs set for the set, with the remainder of tracks still existing as demos. "We start in Abbey Road a week on Monday [November 5]," he said. "Then we'll probably work through a couple of months there, have Christmas off, then go and mix it and see where we're at. We all write separately, but for some reason all the songs sound like they've got a common thread. We've been focusing round the grooves more this time." He adds: "The last album was quite 'songy', if that makes any sense - it was quite a British, retro, '60s sounding album. This is focusing round the grooves more." However the singer/songwriter says it hasn't all been easy sailing, adding weight to reports that he'd been suffering writers block. "I've literally got nothing left to write about. I've written about being a youth, and I've written about being a rock star, and I've written about living life in the big city."
  15. this is the discussion topic for: NIN consider free album release Nine Inch Nails could be the latest high-profile artist to offer their new album up for free. According to a new post by band leader Trent Reznor on the NIN website, the band will be out of contract for the first time by the time their latest studio set is released in 2008, and the band want to forge a 'direct relationship' with their fans. He said "Hello everyone. I've waited a LONG time to be able to make the following announcement: as of right now Nine Inch Nails is a totally free agent, free of any recording contract with any label. I have been under recording contracts for 18 years and have watched the business radically mutate from one thing to something inherently very different and it gives me great pleasure to be able to finally have a direct relationship with the audience as I see fit and appropriate. "Look for some announcements in the near future regarding 2008. Exciting times, indeed."

Officially, the Woodstock Museum is known as the Museum At Bethel Woods and is due to open next year. However, the US government has withdrawn $1,000,000 from the project. "Our plans haven't changed," says Ellyn Solis a spokeswoman for the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, which is developing the museum as the newest part of its 2000-acre performing arts venue. Last week, legislators voted to strip the $1,000,000 million earmark sought by New York. The museum is being built on top of the hill where the stage of the legendary festival was located, reports Yahoo News.
