This is the discussion topic for: Michael Jackson re-records 'Thriller' Michael Jackson has re-recorded his hit album, 'Thriller', with a variety of musical stars, plus has had tracks from it re-mixed. Jackson is joined by Will.I.Am of Black Eyed Peas, who reprises the role initially performed by Sir Paul McCartney on the song 'The Girl Is Mine'. Singer Fergie, of the same band, also appears on the album, singing on 'Beat It'. Kanye West has remixed a song on the album. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the record, which is the biggest-selling album ever. Speaking through a video link at the NRJ Music Awards on Saturday (January 26), Jackson said: “There is a lot more to come from Michael Jackson. I'm coming back. And I've got a very special treat for all my fans. “I have been recording 'Thriller: 25th Anniversary' with a lot of surprise guests.” 'Thriller: 25th Anniversary Edition' will be released on February 11.

This is the discussion topic for: Whitesnake record new album To celebrate their 30th Anniversary, Whitesnake will release "Good to Be Bad", through SPV / Steamhammer at the end of April in Europe and USA - their first studio album in a decade. The album features 11 new songs. David Coverdale, says, "The new album contains all the elements I enjoy about Whitesnake, and more. I can hear moments that take me back to the bluesy, early years of the band all the way through the band's musical history to fully embrace the more electric aspects of where we are now, as a band. I'm thrilled with it and can hardly wait to unleash it on an unsuspecting public! If this is indeed the last Whitesnake studio record then I'm happy to finish like this. It was a labour of love making this record...a joy... and I'm still enjoying listening to it. Can't be bad!" The 11 new songs, written by Coverdale & guitarist Doug Aldrich (who also co-produced the album with Coverdale & Michael McIntyre) are 8 rocking tracks and 3 ballads. Coverdale feels it's the first 'real' Whitesnake album in almost 20 years, commenting "It's very butch. Very muscular..." Whitesnake also have the worst looking "Official site" ever -link-
  4. This is the discussion topic for: Ringo Starr walks off US TV show Ringo Starr walked off the popular US daytime television program 'Regis and Kelly' in a dispute about the performance of one of his songs. The Beatles' former drummer was appearing on the show to promote his new album 'Liverpool 8' and was scheduled to perform the title song with former Eurythmics star Dave Stewart. When Starr found out that he would have to trim the performance down to 2 1/2 minutes or less, he refused. Starr's publicist, Elizabeth Freund, told the Associated Press that the incident occurred because of a miscommunication between her and the show's musical director. She apparently didn't realize that the song would need to be shortened. "We offered to cut back our chat time and asked them to fade or go to commercial. They were not willing to do that and Ringo was not willing to cut it further, so without a compromise we were not able to stay," Freund said in a statement.

  7. This is the discussion topic for: Idiot of the Week: Robert Plant Robert Plant demanded a London bar stopped playing Radiohead, calling it "rhyming crap". The Led Zeppelin frontman dislikes the band so much he asked staff at Camden's Fifty Five Bar to change the record because it was ruining his night. A source told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Robert was drinking with a woman and didn't like the choice of tunes playing. "Radiohead was on and he started complaining. He said, 'What's this rhyming crap?'" However, when staff put on the Red Hot Chili Peppers instead, the 59-year-old was still unimpressed. "The staff were obviously keen to please so they changed their music. They put on the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who they thought might be more up his street. But he didn't like their stuff either and said it was like a 'nursery rhyme'. "He then said he wanted to listen to Captain Beefheart, an American musician who was famous at a similar time to Zeppelin from the 60s to the early 80s."

  9. This is the discussion topic for: Lemmy attacks record bosses Lemmy has hit out at record industry bosses for taking so long to adapt to the idea of selling music online. He ssid the music business deserves its current sales slump because executives have had years to figure out how to best promote music on the internet. He tells Metal Edge magazine: "It's killing itself, isn't it? I mean, they are too dumb to realise. I mean, it was f**king years ago that this started, and they just carried on doing what they were doing, blind to any advice, blind to any sort of evidence. "They just kept on overcharging and kept on f**king people over, and now the chickens are coming home, you know? I think they're all gonna be out of business in 10 years."

Coldplay, one of EMI’s few US chart-toppers, are also prepared to withdraw their labour. Their manager said that the band was considering its options after EMI’s head of music left this week, with thousands more redundancies expected. Radiohead and Sir Paul McCartney have already walked out on EMI, which has cut advance payments to stars and told artists to work harder at promoting their music.
