1. Bandmates say rock guitarist Gary Moore, a former member of influential Irish band Thin Lizzy, has died. He was 58.

Manager Adam Parsons told the BBC that Moore was found dead Sunday at a hotel on Spain's Costa del Sol, where he was on holiday.

  2. What made it so bad here was the non-stop coverage every newscast about all the problems the weather was causing for the Super Bowl. Here's Suzy with a report on the problems Super Bowl fans are having trying to get to Dallas. Here's Bob with a report on the problems Super Bowl fans are having trying to get around once they get to Dallas. Here's Jack with a report on the problems Super Bowl fans are having with the shuttle buses. Here's Frank with a report on the problems Super Bowl fans are having at the airport in Dallas. Here's Linda Lovelace with a report on the problems Super Bowl fans are having trying to find hookers in Dallas. Here's Dan with a report on the collapse of the tents where Super Bowl fans were supposed to attend an autograph session and meet the players, hookers, gypsies, tramps and thieves. Coming up in our next newscast will be an in-depth story on how the Super Bowl fans like walking around in the snow looking for a dope deal. There will also be a video survey on which team's fans eat more hot dogs. Tomorrow we will find out which players wear 2 pair of socks in cold weather and which ones only wear one pair. You are sure to be shocked at which ones are such pansies that they wear 2 pair.

I hope tonight the cold and freezing rain return with a vengeance and that by 10 in the morning the Dallas area is declared a federal disaster area and is under 4 inches of ice with a high temperature of (insert cold ass number here) and a 40mph north wind. Welcome to Texas Super Bowl fans!! Now take yo frostbit butt home!

  3. The superstar was supposed to perform Friday night at TheEvent, a concert with Erykah Badu that was to be a fundraiser for The Goss-Michael Foundation, the art group founded by George Michael and his longtime partner, Kenny Goss.

But the performance never happened, and the circumstances surrounding the cancellation were as mysterious as the Purple One himself.

Sounds like a really messed up deal at $1500 per ticket but you can read it for yourself right here.

  4. The annual Super Bowl is the most viewed TV program in the United States and has a potential viewing audience of over a billion people.

The group's hits, including "Let's Get it Started," "I Gotta Feeling" and "Boom Boom Pow" are staples of sports teams and stadiums around the world, and while Fergie would not reveal which of their hits they would play Sunday she did promise their performance would be packed with energy.

....and you can read about it here.

I'm not much of a sports fan and I probably won't watch the game. How about you???

  5. There has been a lot of things written about that 6 seconds 4sure. Interesting find Dude.

I have a 45 of Color Him Father that I bought back in the early 70's but mine is not an original issue. My copy has Love Of The Common People on the flip side. I do have 3 copies of the Winstons album though. That album is a little hard to find and a little pricey sometimes. I had a poor copy for years. Last summer I got a hair in my butt to look for a better copy. When one appeared on ebay, it was in England. I bought and before it arrived another one became available here in the US. I bought it too just in case the one in England got damaged or was not as described. I wound up with both copies and both are nice. I'm probably one of a very few people that have 3 copies of that album.

I ripped my poor copy a year or two (three?) ago. One of these days I'll rip my better copies. I may buy a large format scanner to make it easier to scan the covers. Scanning covers on a standard size scanner is a pain in the butt.

I saw a promo copy in Argentina last year. I wish I had bought it too just for the heck of it. The label was different but the cover art was the same. Anyhooooo, that's it from here.

  6. My son runs windows 7 and Opera I think. He may use Chrome. I know he doesn't use explorer or firefox. He is a computer science major on a lifetime degree plan. He says to stay away from a Mac. He claims that Macs are only suitable for use by liberals and other inferior people that are short on I.Q. points. Mac users also have dubious musical taste according to studies I have read. Some of them drive a Mercedes but all of them are butt ugly. Definitely not the type of OS that we would want.

what os are you running at the moment mate?
Let's just say I'm not just vulnerable, my ass is hanging out.

XP Pro Pirated Edition and Explorer. I have not been able to get BK to run on Mozilla but I haven't tried lately. Maybe I need to check into that again. I use Mozilla for all other blogs/sites.

    How 'bout you?

what`s the word around the trailer park on obummer these days mate...i see he`s coming up in the polls since he started shifting to the right with the new republican house majority..
I better not touch that one. I have been trying to avoid a serious discussion about politics on music sites....

However, word has it Yobama is in for a "shellacking" as he put it.

  9. Without my son to fix my computer I would have about as much of a chance of success as a good idea in the Yobama administration. I'm about as useful with computers as is a liberal at a common sense convention.

Speaking of left-wingers.... Dude's musical taste drifts pretty far off the beaten path 4sure. However, he has pm'ed me some winners. Raphael Saadiq - The Way I See It (2008) comes to mind. Great album in the old Temptations R&B style.

No doubt about it though, WE have the best musical taste of anyone on this board! If you don't believe it, just ask us!

We probably have the most hard drive space too.

howdy red...how are ya...i blame those damn pirates...44,000 copies sold and half a million copies downloaded...talk about having your cake and downloading it too...
Howdy mate!! I hope all is well down under!

You may be right about [s]us[/s] those damn pirates! Only this time I know it isn't my fault! I have no idea who Cake is and after playing Dude's video I know I won't get caught downloading their album! I love being stuck in the past4sure!

I posted that article because it was news. Cake is not one of the artists on the Complete Motown Singles Collection so that puts them way down on my list to begin with.

On a pirating note, I bought 6 hard drives Thursday of 2tb each so I'm ready to lock and load.

I went to a record store last week. (yes, record store... they sell 12" round black thingies in a 12.25" square cardboard sleeve.) I bought 18 LPs. I haven't ripped one yet but I have played one side of one of the albums, Jay & The Americans - Wax Museum if that counts. It is a promo copy but isn't in the best condition. My sound card wouldn't work correctly to adjust the recording vol but I had my son fix it. It seems that some update to something else jacked it up. He installed something else and now it works. I don't know... Anyway, that's all the "music related news" from my house. I'm not going to go into the "gun range news".

btw, you know I drive a vintage quad sound system and I [s]downloaded[/s] acquired a nice quad copy of John Lennon - Imagine. One of these days I'll get my computer wired to my receiver to play quad. Currently it is only hooked up to play stereo from the computer through the receiver.

Anyway, come to see me! Bring cash!

After the tv station went off the air for the night I would enjoy watching the test pattern too.
