3. Even before we get to see action legends Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone fighting together on the big screen in "Expendables 2," their next collaboration is already set to go. Deadline is reporting that the duo will star in "The Tomb," a prison-escape thriller directed by Mikael Hafstrom. In "The Tomb," Stallone will play a man who designs an "inescapable" high-tech prison. After being double-crossed, he'll become a prisoner in his own design. To escape, he will have to find the flaws of his own system. Luckily, Stallone's character will have help from a fellow inmate with a heart of gold, played by Schwarzenegger. Honestly, this can only come as welcome news to fans of both Stallone and Schwarzenegger. "The Tomb" has all the hallmarks of a classic 80s-style action movie. There's Italian Stallion. There's the Governator. Just throw in a technologically advanced super prison and a reason for revenge, and you have yourself the makings of an action classic. Perhaps the most welcome aspect of this news is that it provides another opportunity to get an R-rated Stallone and Schwarzenegger movie. Chuck Norris ruined that the first time around with his potty-mouth-free "Expendables 2." These men made their names on gratuity. No, that gruesome circular saw thrown through that guy's head didn't exactly add to the plot of "Commando," but it was fun. Hopefully, "The Tomb" will be an opportunity to bring that kind of awesome back. Are you glad to hear that Stallone and Schwarzenegger will reteam for "The Tomb"? 14. (2012 Grammy Nominees) By Rob Markman The hip-hop community has had plenty of issues with the Recording Academy but rap artists still hold plenty of weight at the annual awards show. Eminem dominated in 2011, and this time around 2012 Kanye West racked up 7 Grammy nominations. Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne are also in the running, but Yeezy's seven nods take the cake. Two of West's nominations come in the hotly contested Best Rap Album category; one for his solo My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and the other for his and Jay-Z's Watch the Throne tag-team LP. Lil Wayne's Tha Carter IV, Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday and Lupe Fiasco's Lasers round out the category, and while the odds are clearly in the Louis Vuitton Don's favor, he isn't exactly a lock. If record sales are any indication, it will be tough to ignore the first-week sales of Wayne's Carter IV. The approximate 960,000 units Weezy sold in his first week didn't earn him a platinum plaque right out of the gate, but it stood as one of the biggest hip-hop stories of 2011. CIV has since been certified double platinum by the RIAA, and though some critics panned it, high-powered singles like "6 Foot 7 Foot," "She Will" and "John" helped cement Wayne's ninth solo album as a fan-favorite. Just like her Young Money boss, Nicki Minaj reigned throughout the year thanks to Pink Friday. Released at the end of 2010 and anchored by the infectious and inescapable bonus track "Super Bass," Nicki's debut LP helped her to penetrate the pop space while still keeping a foot firmly planted in the streets with her "Did It On 'Em" single. Lupe Fiasco may be the dark horse of the group but considering the Recording Academy's knack for acknowledging hip-hop with a message, don't be surprised if the Chicago MC takes home the golden gramophone. Lasers was a commercial success thanks to its radio-friendly sound, but it didn't sit well with some die-hard fans because it was a departure from Fiasco's earlier work. Regardless of the LP's sound bed, Lupe's message remained potent. His criticism of President Obama on "Words I Never Said" was polarizing and opened up much political debate. Kanye's MBDTF was highly touted when it dropped in November 2010, but was seemingly eclipsed by the meteoric Watch the Throne collaboration with Jay-Z. Discussing MBDTF's Album of the Year snub, Yeezy blamed himself, saying that he should have spaced his releases out "just a little bit more." But in the Best Rap Album category, his maddening pace only increases his chances. Who will emerge with the Best Rap Album Grammy? Share your predictions on our Facebook page! 16. "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" got snubbed at the Oscars. It's something that most of us here on the MTV Movies Blog team -- and many of you fans out there -- can agree on. But apparently leading man Daniel Radcliffe agrees with us, and he's made his displeasure known. "There's a certain amount of snobbery," Radcliffe said in an interview with the Radio Times (via The Guardian). "It's kind of disheartening. I never thought I'd care. But it would've been nice to have some recognition, just for the hours put in." "I don't think the Oscars like commercial films, or kids' films, unless they're directed by Martin Scorsese," Radcliffe added. "I was watching Hugo the other day and going, 'Why was this nominated and we're not?' I was slightly miffed." "Potter" fans, yours truly included, share Radcliffe's disappointment. Many expected -- as I did -- that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences would honor the last and best of the "Potter" films similar to how they rewarded Peter Jackson and his "Lord of the Rings" films back in 2004. But no cigar. It's not that "Potter" necessarily deserved to win Best Picture, but it at least deserved to be recognized for, as Radcliffe put it, "the hours put in," as well as the fact it was genuinely a high quality film. If I could have had it my way, these would have been the three nominations "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" received. Best Picture -- As I've already argued, "Deathly Hallows: Part 2" was one of the best pictures of the year. And with one slot left unfilled in the Best Picture category, I think it should have been given to "Harry Potter." Best Supporting Actor: Alan Rickman -- The adult actors in the "Harry Potter" franchise have always shone brighter than its young stars, but none more than Alan Rickman. He gave a phenomenal performance as Severus Snape in "Part 2," and should have been acknowledged for it. Best Director -- I have my qualms with David Yates directing style for the many of the "Harry Potter" movies he helmed, but I think he really brought it all together in "Deathly Hallows: Part 2." The pacing, the action and the performances he drew out of his stars were all top notch. It would have been nice if the Academy had felt the same. Do you agree with Radcliffe about "Harry Potter's" Oscar snub? What categories do you think the movie should have been nominated in? He's set to star in some of the year's biggest films, including "The Dark Knight Rises," Spielberg's "Lincoln," the sci-fi thriller "Looper" and Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained." That isn't even counting his bike messenger starring vehicle, "Premium Rush." But now, you can add a directorial debut to JGL's planned list of 2012 accomplishments. This year, Gordon-Levitt will helm his first movie, a comedy he wrote himself. He'll also pull star duty as the film's lead, a "modern-day Don Juan" who tries to change his womanizing ways. Scarlett Johansson will co-star, along a yet-to-be-cast second female lead. Gordon-Levitt said that the role is one that may surprise the fans that know his previous work. "I wrote myself a helluva role, one that people wouldn’t necessarily thought of me for," he said. The actor opened up to Deadline about his directorial debut, something he's wanted to do for years. "I was a child actor for years and quit at 19, went to school awhile, and a big part of why I came back was that I ultimately wanted to make movies," he said. Gordon-Levitt gave credit to the list of prestigious directors he's worked with as one of the big reasons he feels ready to do this. "I spent a year working with Chris Nolan, Rian Johnson, Steven Spielberg, and I did my best to pay attention," he said. "I've also been making short films for a long time now, I've directed a ton of them, and that is a huge part of why I feel comfortable and confident in this." The writer/director/actor duty may come at a cost to Gordon-Levitt, though. The busy work schedule involved with directing and starring in a film could mean no "Django Unchained" for the actor. "It will be tricky schedule-wise, but I was honest with Quentin upfront," he said. Are you excited to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt's directorial debut? 20. Etta James died on Friday (January 20) at the age of 73 and during the 2012 Grammy Awards, Alicia Keys will pay tribute to the legendary blues songstress. Keys will hit the stage with another blues icon, Bonnie Raitt, for a special ode to the “At Last” singer who passed away after a long battle with leukemia. Following her death, Beyonce—who portrayed James in the 2008 film “Cadillac Records” penned a personal farewell note in her memory. Kanye West Nominated For 7 Grammy Awards "This is a huge loss. Etta James was one of the greatest vocalists of our time. I am so fortunate to have met such a queen," Beyoncé wrote on her blog. "Her musical contributions will last a lifetime. Playing Etta James taught me so much about myself, and singing her music inspired me to be a stronger artist. When she effortlessly opened her mouth, you could hear her pain and triumph. Her deeply emotional way of delivering a song told her story with no filter. She was fearless, and had guts. She will be missed." B famously portrayed the blond jazz singer in the 2008 biopic "Cadillac Records." Her version of "At Last" from the film's soundtrack would later win a Grammy for Best Traditional R&B Performance. Beyoncé's version of James' iconic ballad once-again made headlines when she performed the track at President Obama's inaugural ball in 2009. The performance was initially met with some criticism from the always-outspoken James, but she later came around. Beyoncé is the latest in a long line of celebrities paying tribute to James. "Showing respect, appreciation and love for all the wonderful music and joy #ettajames brought to the world...#ettajamesforever," Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am wrote on Twitter. Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams recalled how James' music influenced her. "#EttaJames, I will be forever grateful for your voice and your soul. Rest in peace." Rapper Flo Rida — whose latest hit, "Good Feeling," samples James' "Something's Got a Hold on Me" — wrote, "I'm deeply saddened by the passing of the Great Etta James and I will be forever grateful for the gift she Blessed me with." 25. (Fans reacts to M.I.A.'s Super Bowl stunt) By Uptin Saiidi (@uptin) If there's anyone who knows how to make headlines, it's M.I.A. On Friday she released the racy music video for "Bad Girls," then she stole thunder from Madonna's halftime show at the Super Bowl on Sunday, and now rumors are circulating that she's no longer dating her fiancé and baby daddy, Benjamin Bronfman. Meanwhile, there's still a chance she might get slapped with a fine for throwing up the middle finger. And the fines aren't cheap. In 2004, CBS was forced to pay $550,000 in fines for "indecent exposure" during Janet Jackson's halftime show performance. But who should be held responsible? And why'd she do it? MTV News ventured to Times Square -- where the New York Giants' fans were still out celebrating--to see what people thought of M.I.A.'s flip decision. "It was not good for her, because she's still a young and up-and-coming artist, so she should be looking for more positive publicity," Valon Jaloshey, 22, told MTV News. "That's not the way to get it when you're giving the middle finger at the biggest performance of your life." Maureen Kelley, 26, wasn't surprised by the artist's action but thinks her timing was inappropriate. "It's definitely very M.I.A. to have done that," Kelley said. "She probably shouldn't have done it at the Super Bowl." Kelley does have some advice for dealing with a potential fine: "Maybe she could just pretend that she was wiggling her fingers, I don't know." M.I.A.'s fellow halftime performer Cee Lo Green, meanwhile, exclusively told MTV News late Monday that he knew nothing about the flip-off until the game was long over. "Honestly, I did not hear anything about it," he said. "There was no talk about it in the dressing room afterwards and we didn't stay long after the performance, because it was honestly a relief we had had it done. So I didn't hear anything until I got up to do the morning show, 'Today.' And television is a very sensitive [thing]."
