  1. I will add to this Preacher, perhaps the best comic ever created. It is blasphemous and beautiful; a story of friendship, betrayal and the search for God. A movie has been in the works for a while, yet I am not sure how well it would work in that format. Perhaps a show on HBO similar to Deadwood or the Sopranos would work better (and DC comics and HBO are owned by AOL... so it would work)... this would allow better characterization of the vampire, the preacher, and the embodiment of death.

You should all check it... amazing stuff here is one website that looked kinda good (a website for a comic seems redundant, so I haven't really looked at it): http://www.neonwheels.com/preacher/index.shtml

If you want to read more, or see some other info... check out damned Amazon.com (hey, at least they show what there is available):

  2. Girlphone is awesome!

Welcome to a new forum sir... I hope I see many more of your posts here than the other place... Oh, wait (I dropped character)... I hope that useless fuckwits such as yourself keep your opinions to yourself and post infrequently.

    :frog:

  3. Hmmm... I think a topic starting old school would be more like it. It is odd that so many Zp regs came here when it never realy coalesced at UTC, P2pforums, p2pchat, etc.

Perhaps we can soon stop welcoming all the refugees and start the war. Unfortunately, with the current influx, we now have a more equally represented split in the personal politics of the members... so no agreeing with each other as per norm (Oh... that is a good point Grab... why thank you sir... I also agree with you here).

  4. they don't really fall well into categories, but the same can be said for lots of stuff that's worth listening to

God, I hate being challenged by music... Just listen to what my radio plays me... I like my boxes... I have no desire to get out.

    BTW... welcome

  5. A wingnut is like a screwball or an odd duck... it is just a bit outside the norm.

I think of it as being a social outlier. Not ostracized from society, more just outside of its conventions and codes.

I am cooking, BBIAB to go in a bit deeper.

  6. Why not set up various names?

Chatters can call it the beatking channel, admins can call it the unoffical beatking channel, then after a few months....

    ;)

Here is a compromise... It just came to me and I kinda like it:

    #beatbox

It ties in with music, chat and talking all in one word. What do you all think? Plus, it sounds like it is the unofficial beatking chat, yet still holds possible affiliations with other places (eg ZP, other places, etc.).

  7. #Zeropaid would not be separate as much from the #zeropaid site in name as much as it would be a natural evolution. Jorge has not added #Zeropaid back to the site since his current revamp, and the chat has evolved, although the name has not. The members of the site are diverse and the name has held back discussion due to the name's limiting nature.

We want something that encourages dialogue, but does not cause members that enter to think that we are consorting with the few due to commercial issues.

We have therefore decided to change the name. We are not yet sure to what... the name #ZP has served us well and focused similarly minded individuals to the same place, yet the zeropaid name is no longer the same thing. We want to expand beyond these parameters and become a portal for the issues beyond p2p.

Help us discover these parameters. Join #zeropaid on the p2pchat.net in the next few days to discover where we are headed...

Join us... you know you want to!

I am not sure if this is appropriate, but it is a tradition nevertheless (Get laid, only if you so desire though).

  9. This is a pretty common misconception perpetuated by ignorant Americans such as yourself. You seem to believe that all British people talk like Prince Charles. Most probably you imagine that Britain is populated by tall thin people in pin stripe suits who walk with a superior air of aristocracy, who sport bowler hats and carry a broadsheet newspaper under their arm, and say things like "I say old boy, would you care for a jolly spiffing cup of tea"

You mean this isn't the case? I have been educated quite well by the television and know that it does not lie. I have seen the numbers regarding bowler hats, and they lead me to believe that, on average, each British citizen owns 2.8 of this type of hat.

I have seen you in chat on many occasions tell me and others, in a pompous chat manner, that you, "would care for a jolly spiffing cup of tea," and to be excused from the verbal interchange that you were participating in previously (in a stereotypically stuffy British manner). You have also told me of the exorbitant sums of money that you have paid for a new bowler to "one-up the Joneses."

The next time you talk about stereotypes fish-grabber, you show me that you are the exception, not a reinforcement of the rule.

  10. All that I can say is, UK English is lame :P

These words are mainly synonyms with regional usage. Colloquial speech is variant in all languages, even in different portions of the US. My wife's family is from the Mid West, and she loves to throw in an odd word occasionally that she learned as a child.

Formal English is rather similar between nations. Personally, I use Autumn and Fall interchangably, and many of the other idiomatic expressions are due to marketing and people using trademarked items that are dissimilar in the countries causing divergence.

I would consider American English to be a less stuffy and more vibrant (albeit "slangy") version of the proper English spoken by those in the UK. The UK English is less flexible; having less linguistic plasticity to adapt to future and current social and technological change. If a word is used to refer to the current state of the world, it is derived from American English... Eventually the Brits will be speaking American English as their language is less and less able to refer to the world in which they inhabit.

    :P

    What do you think Grab?

  11. As sad as I am to say this, I will watch this at least once.

That damned Newlyweds show on MTV is damned funny; Simpson and Lachey seem like real people, perhaps stupid and angry (respectively), but they have faults that make the show fun to watch and redeeming qualities as well. I enjoy some fluff from time to time, and I love to keep my fingers on the pulse of the American psyche (that is my primary interest in life after all, probably the reason that I chat and browse the internet as well, to tell you the truth).

I am sure it will be bad, but think of it as a seventies homage, similar to the Osmonds show or Sonny and Cher. There hasn't been a show like that in a while and I am sure that it will be huge. I am rather surprised that no one else has attempted to tap this market previously.

  12. Mmmmmm... brains!

I saw this weekend as a battle of the zombie movies. Notice, both movies are focused on people that come back from the dead ;)

I am a big fan of the films of George Romero and loved the original. This film had similar thematic elements, but had an entirely different storyline, which made able to accept it in relation to the greatest zombie film of all time.

Fun movie, not much thinking... back to indie movies later this week.

  13. Honestly, I think that a good user base is necessary to talk about music. I am not sure that many people here share my tastes in music (but i could be wrong), so I would worry that my threads may die :(... I am just a n00b here though; I am not sure what it is going for yet.

Anyways, I am just a forum troll.

  14. Or, you could save 50 dollars and get a gamecube :) (the cube has fantastic games, awesome graphics and the best controller ever made). Or, you could spend twenty more dollars and get a PS2, which has many more games than the silly X-Box and you can trade games with the thirty or so odd million other people in the US with one.

The X-Box is powerful, but the first-party games have always been lacking (Halo? oh wow... another first person shooter). Also, many of the exclusives later or previously have been on the PC (KOTOR on my compy as we speak). The box itself is bulky and cumbersome, with the stupidest-looking, most uncomfortable controllers that I have ever seen from a first party.

The X-Box is a jack of all trades, master of none. Save your dough and just get a better graphics card or a 'cube.

  15. I used to work at an art supply store, and we had this customer named Jerry... he was approximately 55 years of age or so... he was a nice guy, he really liked me as opposed ot other people... he would come in and purchase tubes of Testor's model cement three at a time, always in a bag... he was really a nice guy... after many hour long conversations/cornerings I go the fact that he was more than likely abused and had major schizophrenia (in retrospect)... I always felt sad for the man... he had such severe delusions, the glue was most assuredly not the biggest problem... I wonder about him now.

I have not talked to these people I worked with for 9 years recently, since I wasted so much of my life, but i wonder about this man. He was always polite and had something deep in his eyes; I could sense his tragedy.

Inhalants are a death escape... they bring you to the void.

I lived with a person for a while that showed me how to do inhalants... he was a damned fun person to live with... I never did them, but his lesson in "schnocking" has always stayed with me even thought that is not who he is.
