  1. If you don't have enough parts and par files to complete the thing then you're out of luck I guess, regardless of whether you use nzb or not. Some people have a paid for server + their isp's server + some free ones or a free one undergoing beta testing. All those combined can complete most dvd's or whatever.

Here's a program that lets you use that alt.binaries.nl site effectively. It also works with the usenetjunkie site. You can just highlight all the parts or right click and check them, then click on the appropriate arrow at the top to make the nzb in a few seconds.

  2. Here's an example of a site that has nzb files. All you do is download one of them and open it. That'll open any usenet client you have that's capable of running nzb files. They'll be queued and ready to go. Just like torrents. It's nice to see 60 parts of a movie load into there in 2 seconds, ready to go. Or a CD with 20 songs.

If you don't have a newsreader that can use nzb files, this one can. It's also a search service and indexer, but you need to join. It's free so far.

  3. If you don't like downloading millions of headers and scrolling through the posts you can use .nzb files instead. They're just like torrents or sig2dat or ed2k links. You use a search engine, then you can create, open, post, and import them into your client.

I don't think anyone is interested, but if you are I'll go into more detail later. :P

  4. Shareaza version 2.0 is now available with some cool new features, better performance, and a sleek new theme – but the biggest and most important change is that it’s now offered under an open source license.

New comprehensive "remote web access" feature allows full remote control of Shareaza from your web browser.

Performance improvements on all supported networks

    Some sleek new “2.0” graphics.

    GPL source

  5. I was aware of that, but the very implication, joking or not, can cause some serious problems, especially if others didn't know he was kidding.

Afterall, like some people have stated; they don't even know about ZP, and they'd be inclinded to just believe, seriously, what napho is joking.

It's touchy, and the last thing BeatKing needs is some petty war of words with ZP admins.

You must loosen up my man (no sexual innuendo there)

I figured what I posted was ridiculous enough so there'd be no doubt that it was a joke. Even Sephiroth would realize that (after reading it a few dozen times) :P

  6. Zeropaid seems to have BeatKing in it's sights as it starts a new set of music forums. At stake is a $20 million advertising and t-shirt empire. Rumour has it that DudeAsInCool has already purchased a 16 room mansion in Palm Beach and a couple of Mercedes so it's all-out war. :o ;)

  7. AVG seems to catch those types of downloaders/trojans. Also spyware programs like Adaware, Spybot and Spysweeper catch hijackers and downloaders and can be run 24/7 in some cases to stop things before they install. Having a program like TrojanHunter doesn't hurt either in case your antivirus program misses something it's not specifically designed for.

  8. But you guys probably have, so this thread might just be unnecessary. ;)

Audioscrobbler is a computer system that builds up a detailed profile of your musical taste. After installing an Audioscrobbler Plugin, your computer sends the name of every song you play to the Audioscrobbler Server.

With this information, the Audioscrobbler server builds you a 'Musical Profile'. Statistics from your Musical Profile are shown on your Audioscrobbler User Page, available for everyone to view.

There are lots of people using Audioscrobbler, but usually only the people who like the same sort of music to you are interesting. The Audioscrobbler Server calculates which people are most similar to you, based on shared musical taste, so you can take a look at what your peers are listening to.

With this information, Audioscrobbler is able to automatically generate suggestions for new songs/artists you might like. These suggestions are based on the same principals as Amazon's "People who bought this also bought X,Y,Z", but because the Audioscrobbler data is what people are actually listening to, the suggestions tend to make more sense than Amazon.
