  8. 2008 kicked off in fine style for the world of Hard House, with a host of new nights, new labels, new DJs, and fantastic new tracks from brilliant new production talent supporting the scene-stalwarts. Nothing has epitomised this new energy and outlook more than Hi Oktane, the night started by Adam M and his brother Simon in Leeds. The last Hi Oktane in January packed in a fresh-faced, up-for-it crowd who stayed right until the final kick drums pounded the My House sound system. The DJs were excellent, the music was fresh and vibrant, and the event was the talk of the message boards. Rather than sit back, there has been more effort put in to making the next Hi Oktane a better party, with more energy put in to securing an even better line-up of DJs. With that in mind, please put your hands together for: Hi Oktane vs Vicious Circle!! Topping the line-up we have the undisputed kings of Hard House, two people who have pushed the scene forward from the earliest days of Trade in the South and Insomniacz in the North and need no introduction. Performing a rare B2B set, we have Vicious Circle regular Andy Farley, and label boss Paul Glazby. Between them they have been responsible for some of the very biggest tracks and remixes of all time including ‘Hostile’, ‘Khemikal Imbalance’, ‘Kick It’, ‘Barriers’, ‘Dreams’ remix and ‘Good Side’ remix, and are still producing bombs today. With forthcoming tracks on Vicious, Tripoli Trax, and Tidy, their set will inevitably be something very very special Originally seen as the protégé of the Vicious Circle boss, Ben Stevens is now considered by many to be the best technical DJ out there. Ben has accumulated a raft of the highest quality release on Vicious and many other labels over the years, and recently launched his own ‘Fireball’ imprint, which is looking good for the future, and completed his first appearance on Tidy Trax. Cyberkitten resident Lucy Fur is the most recent addition to the Red Management team, and having cut her teeth DJing up and down the country for Frantic, Polysexual, and Tidy Extreme Euphoria, has recently completed tracks signed to Hardsounds, Volatile and Toolbox. She will be mixing one CD of the forthcoming Toolbox album, and between these two you can sure of a sublime set. The back room is hosted as always by the specialist Funk Deluxe promotion, hosted by the hardest working man in dance, Vince Robertson. The DJs performing in this room have all been hand-picked as experienced, highly respected performers who know how to rock the dancefloor and will offer up the perfect alternative to the Hardness of the main room. Dean H, Em Extreme, Russell James, Miss Adrenalin, Sarah C & Metz and Arran Swales will be spinning the best in house and electro around, so be sure to check them all out during the night! Remember to get down early, as all advance tickets for the event have sold out and although there will be some available on the door, there is only so much room in the club! 9. A+E & Sundissential Tour 2008 Date: 22nd March 2008 Venue: The Jailhouse Gaol Street Hereford HR4 8LW Opening times: 20:00 - 03:00 (Special early opening time) A+E fans have been spoiled over recent months after a string of successful night's with Hard Houses biggest players such as Lisa Lashes, BK and the Tidy Boys to name a few. March 22nd will see this trend continue as A+E teams up with the king of all parties, the legendary Sundissential, to present what looks to be A+E's biggest night yet. If that wasn't enough, one of clublands most infamous icons and the man that started Sundissential 12 years ago, Madders, will be at hand to host the evening! PAUL GLAZBY Paul Glazby is a man that needs no introduction. Owner of Vicious Circle, arguably the most consistent Hard House label of recent years with over 70 genre defining releases. Since starting out as resident at the legendary Insomniacz he has grown to becoming one of the most in demand DJ's on the circuit today. As well as headlining all the major events and Hard Dance festivals in the UK Paul has also enjoyed success taking his full-on sound across the globe at world famous events such as Dance Valley in Holland. PAUL MADDOX Whether it be Dj'ing or producing, Paul is without doubt one of the most talented and creative individuals in the scene. Snapped up by Tidy Trax at the tender age of 16 Paul has gone on to become one of the most well respected names in the industry. He has enjoyed success across the globe, supporting the Tidy Boys on a world tour as well as being one of very few to appear on all 12 Tidy Weekender's line-ups. IAN M For eight years in the ‘90s Ian played a central role in the success of the most important after-hours club in British dance music history, Trade. The residency which followed gave Ian the challenging task of playing after the lord of the dance Tony de Vit, one which he pulled off successfully week after week. The fruitful relationship with Trade afforded a number of memorable career highlights. These include playing to an audience of 250,000 at the Love Parade in Leeds, teaming up with Danny Tenaglia at Twilo in New York and headlining Dance Valley in Amsterdam alongside Carl Cox. Ask any hard house DJ to cite their influences and you can bet that Ian M is near the top of their list, and his pervasive influence shows no sign of waning. STEVE-NRG Steve-NRG is a fast rising star in the making and has played at some of the biggest events in the country including Sundissential, Storm, Polysexual, Slinky and B2T. Whether it be a groovier building set or full on hard NRG, his energetic sound is instantly recognisable. His ability to adapt his style, depending on crowd and time of set, makes him one of the most versatile, technically gifted and respected DJs around. DANNY ROBERTS In recent years Danny a.k.a Nice Guy Danny has been building his reputation as one of the industries most promising talents. Having started out in Birmingham he soon became a regular fixture on the circuit and soon was picked to be resident at Dropzone, ran by Charlotte Birch. This gave him the ideal opportunity to showcase his skills to a much larger crowd while playing alongside some of the countries biggest DJ's. Danny also presents Clubbed Up, a Midlands based radio show that has enjoyed great success over the years. Danny has evolved his sound in recent times and you'll now find him concentrating on House music in all it's forms. NEIL C Neil is a hard working, versatile DJ, turning his decks from dirty electro/house all the way up the spectrum to full on filth, keeping the crowds firmly on the dance floor. He’s not afraid to show off his technical ability with head spinning effects and turntabalism which often lures clubbers to the DJ booth to see what the hell is going on behind there! His passion and love for the music shines through and his sets never fail to please even the most narrow minded of clubbers. THE ONACOCK BROTHERS It has been said that the Onacocks are nothing but a myth, made up purely to scare the hardened filth lover into dancing to a bit of hard funk. But low and behold they actually exist. Whether its Funky Techno, Hard Funk or a slab of Classic Hardhouse the Onacocks have never lost sight of the fact that music is fun, and with over 3 years experience in entertaining the early crowd, their sets are most definitely that. We have enlisted some of the world’s most respected DJ talent to entrance you with their latest version of the trance sound. Don’t miss out on this one off event, buy your tickets today. COME ON PASSION! When I first heard System F’s ‘OUT OF THE BLUE’ I knew that this record would change how I listened to dance music forever. Out of the house scene emerged this electrifying revolutionary uplifting new sound called trance, and with it spawned a nation of party crazed animals wearing glowing colour and wild outfits. When I was asked to take along one new record to review for Mixmag’s ‘The Judge and the Jury’ section I readily clutched this piece of precious vinyl for myself Judge Jules and Scott Bond to listen to, we all gushed at its power to destroy dance floors and agreed that it was a defining moment in musical history, a record that stands the test of time today. Ferry Corsten was Passions very first Dutch import and we had the privilege of having him as monthly resident for well over a year in the late 90’s, he had such an affinity with us at Passion he even commissioned a shooting of his video to the track ‘Exhale’ to be filmed live with his beloved Passion audience in the video. His career has since sky rocketed with DJing sets and hit records around the globe. Having not played at Passion for over 4 years, we are extremely excited at his prodigal return. With the re-launch of our hugely successful ‘Grandmasters’ series, there was one candidate that instantly sprang to mind. Ferry Corsten… we salute you as a Passion Grandmaster 2007! YOUR Passion Passion has always been renowned as the ultimate peoples club. By the people for the people, because you are and always will be what makes this place so special. Now, for the first time, we are giving you the chance to be part of that special feeling, you can vote for the DJ’s that play in the YOUR Passion arena. There have been many people who have been inspired after a night out at Passion to take up the art of DJing, they now have the chance to play in the venue of their inspiration. Each event will feature new and exciting Passion inspired talent alongside some of the more established Passion favourites, the music will be a mixture of everything dance whether it be electro funky beats to tech influenced kicks… all will be Passionate about PASSION, all will be voted for by YOU! After all this is YOUR Passion To vote for the DJs that will play in the YOUR Passion room at the next event visit www.passionuk.com/yourpassion
