MFSB (short for "Mother, Father, Sister, Brother") were a loose conglomeration of studio musicians who provided backing tracks for dozens of seminal Philadelphia soul recordings in the 1970s. They later released successful singles and albums as a stand-alone recording act.
In 1974, Philadelphia International released an instrumental track which had been recorded by the band as the theme music for the television show Soul Train as a single. The record, titled "TSOP (The Sound of Philadelphia)" was a hit on both the pop and R&B charts, and launched a recording career for the band under their own name. MFSB albums and singles were released for the rest of the decade.

Don't like this track to much but if you can hook me up with "I'd still say yes"...That would be most excellent
Sorry Droopy it's not looking good for I'd still say yes, so I give these two until I can find it.

Great horns. Who is the singer in 'Always There' - that lady has some chops.
The lady with the chops is Jocelyn Brown Joceyln Brown at my space
Her aunt, Barbara Roy, sung in the female group Ecstasy, Passion and Pain (EPP). Her grandmother, mother, two aunts, and a cousin all sang. More info on Jocelyn here andhere
Ms. Brown shared lead vocals on Nights Over Egypt with Maysa Leak www.myspace.com/mleak
In 1991, she was recommended to the British funk-jazz group Incognito by producer Steve Harvey, a mutual friend of Maysa's and of the band's leader, Jean-Paul 'Bluey' Maunick. Maysa moved to London and joined the band in time to record the 1992 album 'Scribes, Tribes & Vibes', which included the hit single 'Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing.' She also recorded the 1993 album 'Positivity' with Incognito before returning to Baltimore in 1994 to record her first solo album, 'Maysa'. More on Maysa here
Here is what Maysa brought to Incognito

It occurred to me this morning, that the main riff here is a direct lift from Sly and the Family Stone... This version with Bill Evans and Daryl Jones is cool, but I prefer the original recording with the Headhunters.
I agree Dude nice rendition but the original is better. May submit for your approval Watermelon Man ft. Carlos Santana

Wow, thats old school man! One of my favorite tunes by them (never seen the video before. awesome!)
The singers name is Imanni by the way.... killer voice! :)
You all heard 'Eleven' yet? The new album is smokin'!
Yes welcome Ben. Haven't heard the Eleven yet but I will be checking it out.
Just a note if you pay attention to the gentelman on the sofa and the fellow that does the flip towards the end of the video, that is Jason Statham of The Transporter, Transporter 2 and Crank.
Incognito is one of my favorite bands, they have a great blend of jazz, funk and r&b, not to mention they get some of the best female vocalist such as this old school joint:

In 1978, Summer acted in the film Thank God It's Friday, and released the hit single, "Last Dance". Written by Paul Jabara who also co-wrote "It's Raining Men", "The Main Event (Fight)" and "No More Tears (Enough is Enough)", the song became another monumental hit for Summer reaching number-three on the Billboard Hot 100 and resulted in her first Grammy win while Jabara took home the Oscar after the song was nominated for Song of the Year. From Wikipedia

It is the Sunday Night Band from a short lived television show called Sunday Night. You can find more information here. It was a pretty good show but when comes to jazz music nothing seems to last on television. When VH1 was created it was created for the more mature crowd and on Sunday mornings they featured a number of jazz and world artists. That to was short lived. :(

Klymaxx was a female Urban/Dance-pop group formed in Los Angeles, California between 1979 and 1990. The group consisted of drummer/founder Bernadette Cooper, vocalist Lorena Porter, bassist Joyce Irby, keyboardists Lynn Malsby and Robbin Grider and guitarist Cheryl Cooley. Klymaxx became the first and last (so far) all-female band in this style of music to all play an instrument.

"Jungle Boogie" is a funk song released in 1973 by Kool and the Gang on their album Wild and Peaceful. The song soared to the top ten as a single, and became hugely popular in the clubs. Today it has been heard on commercials for Capital One.
The song has been sampled on Madonna's 1992 top ten hit, "Erotica" and Janet Jackson's 1994 top ten single "You Want This". The song was also used in Quentin Tarantino's 1994 film Pulp Fiction as part of the opening credits. Jay Chandelshakar dances to this song in Beerfest. From Wikipedia

Rats. scratch this one off my Weekly one hit wonder list. I was beaten to the draw.
a great song.
Hey bear you couldn't add a Curtis to a one hit wonder list:
December 4, 1961: Curtis Mayfield hits #2 on the R&B chart and #20 on the pop chart with “Gypsy Woman”.
November 9, 1963: Curtis Mayfield hits #1 on the R&B chart and #4 on the pop chart with “It’s All Right”.
October 21, 1972: ‘Superfly’ tops the Billboard’s album chart for the first of four weeks. This soundtrack to a film about a Harlem drug dealer’s attempt at a final “big score” delivers two major hits: “Freddie’s Dead” (#2 R&B, #4 pop) and “Superfly” (#5 R&B, #8 pop).

Michael Jackson - Another part of me
in The 80s

Released in 1988, it broke the streak of the five #1 songs Jackson achieved on the pop charts with the song peaking at #11 pop although it hit #1 on the Billboard R&B Singles Chart. The song was originally from Jackson's Captain EO 3D film made in 1986. It was not intended to go on the Bad album, but producer Quincy Jones decided to replace the song "Street Walker" with it. The latter of the songs was later released on the 2001 special edition re-release of Bad.
