members of Uniform have set up an independent record label with the intention of releasing experimental music, or more precisely music made by experimental minds...this means we're not restricted to genre or styles and so have a variety of artists onboard with sounds ranging from full on sonic-art noise to off-kilter folk-rock to unnerving hip-hop....the debut release is by the infamous Sudden Infant and is titled 'Three Puppets EP'....the sleeves are specially created silk-screen prints on italian watercolour paper so they look and feel as special as the music itself....all releases will be limited to 100 copies only so once they sell out, that's it - no reprints or reruns.... the release date is the 20th of April but you can order a pre-release copy here at a cost of £3.50 each : http://www.needlesoup.com/order/order.html http://www.needlesoup.com http://www.myspace.com/needlesoup

here's info on Needle Soup - a music label set up by members of Uniform, focusing on a new wave of fringe music which can range from experimental electronics to folk-rock and everything in between and beyond, just as long as it's off-kilter.....'outsider music' for want of a tag.....we release very small runs of between 100 and 200 cds and 7"s only without any re-pressings the debut release is out on the 29th of november 2006 and is by the renowned artist Joke Lanz under one of his many guises, Sudden Infant....it's a 3 track EP titled 'Three Puppets' featuring some incredibly visceral tracks...Joke has a huge body of work to his name including WAL, Schimpfluch-Gruppe with the performance artist Rudolf Eb.er, Opposite Opponents and countless others projects....he has collaborated with the likes of Christian Marclay, Annie Stubbs, Z'EV and too many other to mention...unsettling yet beautiful, this EP is a fantastic start to the label and we're proud to have him onboard... other releases in the pipeline are by the fantastic Les Natrels, The Rebel (aka Ben Wallers, the dynamo behind Country Teasers), Alice Kemp with her uniquely disquieting project Germseed and Scalper with his fire-and-brimstone version of hip-hop.... please bear in mind that the label is a labour of love project...if you like what you hear and you like the spirit in which it's done, then support us by buying the CDs....you don't have to be wealthy to be a philanthropist ! you can pre-order the CD by going to the Needle Soup site here.... http://www.needlesoup.com/order/order.html wajid http://www.needlesoup.com http://www.myspace.com/needlesoup

a forum/discussion board is now up and running on the Uniform site where we're hoping to get some lively debates going about sonic art, live-art and anything else worth it's weight in salt....our intention is to combine takes on academic practise within contemporary music and sonic art with the urgency and intensity of rock n roll....we will at some point be creating an FTP upload area where people can post mp3's and soundclips but these will be strictly for experimental compositions from the past to the present with the intention of sharing and discussing work...anything other than challenging or academic work will be binned....the forum itself still doesn't look totally right yet but we dont want to get pedantic about it....it'll get better as we go along....you're invited to join love and experiments wajid and alice Uniform http://www.youkneeform.com/forum/index.php www.youkneeform.com www.myspace.com/uniformuk

just to let everyone know, the latest Uniform album titled 'Protocol' has been released on the 3rd of April 2006 on the Planet Mu label....there's some pretty discordant voices on the album and to give you some idea, it's a fractured schizo-electronics sound.... the tracklisting is : 01 sex is a contract, history is a trick (featuring lydia lunch) 02 lucid lucid lucid 03 day 7 in the season of mistakes (featuring olga naiman) 04 a swollen vendetta (featuring dalek) 05 are faces objects ?
