  1. Woodstock museum to open

I am quite sure, if this museum were about War, Death, and Destruction the millions would pour in from all sides. But since this one is about Peace, Love, and Music ... well ... the millions get pulled out. AK

  4. Soul-Sides Blog

I agree. SS is an excellent blog. There are lots of other great music blogs around which specialize in rare Soul tracks: The Stepfather of Soul, Souled On, Soul Detective just to mention a few of my favorites. I never understood, however, how they can post so much material without getting into trouble. I hope they never will have problems!
  5. The Four Tops - It's The Same Old Song

    Thanks for the welcome!
  6. The Four Tops - It's The Same Old Song

I am actually a Temptations (David Ruffin) fan who also loves the Four Tops ( lots of other groups). This is a clip I really enjoy a lot: The Tempts and The Tops: Two of the best!
  7. 110 ABBA songs

I love ABBA too. My favorite is "Dancing Queen." I don't know why, but that song makes me want to cry everytime I hear it. It somehow hints at the preciousness of youth -- and it is as fresh to me nowadays as it was back in the day. (I do like this smiley!!)
  8. Otis Redding vinyl

There is a new documentary DvD about Otis Redding available: "Dreams To Remember: The Legacy Of Otis Redding." For everyone who loves the maan and his music, it will be a treasure in his/her collection. I have it, and from the very beginning I knew it was a special piece. So, I was not very much surprised when I found this article by Reeling in The Years Productions a few days ago. A clip from the video is here: http://www.amazon.com/Dreams-Remember-Lega...3155&sr=1-4 Dear All, It's official, thanks to your support "Dreams To Remember: The Legacy Of Otis Redding" is on the Grammy ballot in the category of Best Long Form Music Video (Category #110). There is a short window to ensure that this DVD is nominated. All ballots from the voters must be RECEIVED by November 7th. There are 158 entires in this category on the ballot (Last year there was almost 500) so we have some serious competition. However all of the press that Stax has garnered this year for its 50th anniversary celebration will help us with the voters as will the fact that Otis Redding was so dearly loved and that December 10th marks the 40th anniversary of his tragic death in plane crash. All voters get to submit five choices from the list of 158 on the ballot so we're hoping that they will make "Dreams To Remember: The Legacy Of Otis Redding" (which is entry #102) one of their five in the category of Best Long Form Music Video. The top five will be announced in early December and then we'll see if "Dreams To Remember: The Legacy Of Otis Redding" is nominated for a Grammy. We can't think of a more fitting tribute to this great man than to have him nominated for a Grammy (and hopefully win) 40 years after his untimely passing. In addition to "Dreams To Remember: The Legacy Of Otis Redding," Reelin' In The Years Productions have three other titles on the ballot for consideration. (1) Jazz Icons: John Coltrane; Live In '60, '61 & '65 (Entry #27) (2) Smokey Robinson & The Miracles Definitive Performances 1963 - 1987 (Entry #104) (3) American Folk Blues Festival (The British Tours 1963- 1966) (Entry #134) (Volume One was nominated for a Grammy in 2004) Again thank all for your support. Sincerely, David A. 9. Ryan Shaw

I am very impressed with Ryan Shaw's talent and this clip truly shows what a great singer he is in my opinion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRp8YPI4YIo Enjoy! He has an album out, too: "This Is Ryan Shaw."
