The Goddess Fairchild

She came to Earth from Mount Olympus
She came to Earth to entertain us
I kneel obediently at her shrine
This heavenly Muse so divine
Most pleasing voice in all of music
Her sultry tones render me weak
Tough as nails singing "Pontoon"
"Little White Church" makes me swoon

Who's that gal in Little Big Town
Who's that dream making those sounds
Who's that deity some call Karen
Who's that vision of loveliness
Who's that femme, such grace and style
Who's that diva driving me wild
Why.. that's the Goddess
The Goddess Fairchild

I've got her portrait on my wall
Smiling down on this mere mortal
I kiss her first thing every morning
This giver of sweet harmony
When she's angry, she's a "Tornado"
When she's pleased, she's a patron
So majestic on her throne
She's the Queen of Music Row

Who's that gal in Little Big Town
Who's that dream making those sounds
Who's that deity some call Karen
Who's that vision of loveliness
Who's that femme, such grace and style
Who's that diva driving me wild
Why.. that's the Goddess
The Goddess Fairchild

More beautiful than Aphrodite
More regal than Hera
Wiser than Athena
Wilder than Artemis

Who's that gal in Little Big Town
Who's that dream making those sounds
Who's that deity some call Karen
Who's that vision of loveliness
Who's that femme, such grace and style
Who's that diva driving me wild
Why.. that's the Goddess

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
