Alcoholics Of The Future

I see them in the bars
Second Avenue in Nashville
They're here every night
Like they have time to kill
I'm old enough to be their dad
Some are just twenty-one
They sure go through the beer
Vodka, whiskey and rum

Alcoholics Of The Future
A brand new generation
They're having fun now
But the fun will play out
Alcoholics Of The Future
Floating on a sea of booze
Pierced and tattooed
Predestined to lose

No use talking to them
Already set in their ways
They got an early start
Throwing their lives away
Headaches and hangovers
Losing jobs and DUIs
Totaled cars and jail time
Broken homes and alibis

Alcoholics Of The Future
A brand new generation
They're having fun now
But the fun will play out
Alcoholics Of The Future
Floating on a sea of booze
Pierced and tattooed
Predestined to lose

I wish I could turn them around
Intercept them on their way down

Alcoholics Of The Future
A brand new generation
They're having fun now
But the fun will play out
Alcoholics Of The Future
Floating on a sea of booze
Pierced and tattooed
Predestined to lose

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
