Well... it has come to my attention that users want news sometimes while I am not available to put it up...

What I have done now is I have given permission to anyone to post news stories in the GENERAL NEWS or MUSIC NEWS categories and it will automatically appear on the front page. If this permission is abused by anyone, they will be warned and blah blah blah I shouldn't need to say because I know noone will do something like that. The worst case scenario is that someone is banned but eh... I don't need to worry about doing that!

Again, members are allowed to post news in the above categories freely! :D

Something has been up recently with the news stories showing up oddly on the front page... well, to remedy the problem, I will attempt an upgrade of these boards while I re-arrange them. Thanks for the patience!

Nevermind the upgrade for now... I just fixed it.

It has something to do with the amount of characters I allow per story on the front page... I had to increase to 400 but I went up to 450 for future posts...

Yeah, I'm not going to get in any kind of dispute with Seph about what's going on, but it seems foolish to me to alienate a steady clientelle in hopes of attracting another group which may or may not be out there. I don't think the decision is Seph's, but as the frontman for the changes he catches the flak. Actually the structural part of the changes doesn't bother me at all....it's the relative disdain for a group of ZP members that seems cold to me. Whether I agree with the members or not, they still should have the stature and respect due to all ZP members.....if they don't qualify for that then they should be banned. But it's all really about getting different people to buy shirts and click sponsor links, I guess.

Seriously, those crazy threads are welcome here in my opinion. Bring em on--let them have fun. Life needn't be so serious. Music and good vibes at BK...

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
