Happy Birthday, Beatking!

One year ago, Beatfactory had a dream to start an international music community which celebrated every music genre and was open to everyone. 800 members and 50,000 posts later, that dream has become a reality. On behalf of the administrators and mods, we would like to thank all of you for dropping by and for making this a real community. (Feel free to Pass the word)

Woohoo

As the email that just went out will tell people...everyone who posts in this birthday thread will be eligible for the draw for a free regular price cd of their choice.

At various times Saturday there will be other draws, some based on attendance at those times, some based maybe on other things. Those other things will be revealed in time.

And a big thank you to the guys from Gabriel Young who graciously donated some of the prizes that will be awarded.

-----

I can't even say how much I like the feel of this place. Thanks to every one of you guys and gals.

edit - And to rephrase the above, we actually didn't send those emails because it is a known bug in the forum software.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
