"Angry Birds Star Wars" at first seemed like the straw that would break the merchandising juggernaut's back. Could "'Star Wars' sell out any further?" many fans asked, but the mobile game tie-in ended up being the best version to date of the outrageously popular app.

That's why we're so excited for the recently announced "Angry Birds Star Wars II," the new game from Rovio that will incorporate many new features, characters, and levels that any fan of the film series will recognize.

Check out the new trailer for "Angry Birds Star Wars II" after the jump!

As a new trailer for the game demonstrates, one of the key features that "Angry Birds Star Wars II" will feature is the use of "Telepods," a series of figurines that can be used to bring characters, like Yoda, into the game, and create customizable line-ups of pigs and birds to shoot at enemies.

Players will also be able to choose which side of the Force they will root for, but this being "Angry Birds," one of your options will be the "Pork Side," which features enemies from the series. Among the new characters and on the "Pork Side" roster is Darth Maul. The Sith apprentice will be playable and packs a duel-bladed lightsaber with which to destroy towers and Jawas.

You'll be able to download "Angry Birds Star Wars II" starting on September 19, so get your phone, tablet, and thumbs ready for some nerdy birds versus pigs action.

That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
