An out of work coal miner who is a dirty and drunken Northerner. Although partly victim of his geographical location after heavy industry was outsourced abroad, he was also his own worse enemy by failing to adopt to modern consumerism and trade. Instead, he chose to protest that his business was unprofitable by not turning up to work.

He does not like Margaret Thatcher or the words, "the" and "was". Does like the word "right" and pies.

That was at the Chinook Pass summit, in the Cascade Mountains between Eastern and Western Washington. We took a trip over to the Point Defiance Zoo in Tacoma and the Pacific Science Center in Seattle. We were going to hit Pike Street Market and the Piers, but ran out of time and money.

Oh well, it's only a 2 1/2 hour drive, and I have lots of family on that side of the mountains.

To the right of where that picture was taken:

You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
