Bella Fleck & The Flecktones

I recently drove past the Wiltern in LA and saw a headline for this band. Here's a description from Yahoo: "Using his trusty banjo to make genre busting music that has rarely been heard coming from that instrument, virtuoso Bela Fleck is considered one of the most impressive instrumentalists in the world of bluegrass-folk-fusion jazz." Now that's an interesting combination. Anyone else heard of these guys - what do you think?

Here's their website: http://www.flecktones.com ...

And here's a free tune to listen to - it sounds like rock to me..

This band is amazing if you haven't heard it

Victor Wooten (a god) plays bass for them...he plays such choices as

This

and This

also check out his tune "Classic Thump" if you have the chance...trust me, you will be blown away.

This band's sheer skill of their instruments is what is impressive; you will hear a banjo enter with a melody and then the bass can EXACTLY mimic it...just incredible. Check them out!

Check 'em out

I'll buy that

I mean i'd like to see every band in a small venue at some point...way different experience, but these guys especially. I would love to see (or not see, because his fingers are so fast) Wooten rock the bass!!

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
