'Cruel Winter' Trailer Not Directed By Kanye West

Now we can stop wondering why Kanye West decided to include a piece of George H.W. Bush's "New World Order" speech in his "Cruel Winter" trailer--it's because 'Ye had nothing to do with production of the teaser.

Last week director Austin Christianson posted the almost minute-long clip on his YouTube page and it was immediately picked up, but now Christianson now tells Fuse that Kanye was not involved in its creation.

"Without getting into many details, I will say that the trailer was independently made and the video is essentially a concept trailer," Christianson told Fuse. "It's used for pitching an idea and/or concept to a client. With that said, the video was being used for pitching purposes and it's naturally intended only for the client to see."

Bush's speech is set over a clip from Fenchel & Janisch production company called "Dark Fields," and Christianson  was sure to note that the company was not involved either. "It was used for reference purposes only, and Fenchel & Janisch have no involvement otherwise," he said. He's since removed the trailer from both his YouTube and Vimeo pages, but wouldn't reveal if Kanye has seen the clip at all.

The "Copyright DONDA" line, included in the video's description sure was misleading.
