After reading so much about van hunt I decided to get it. To tell you the truth, I wasn't impressed. Nothing new to offer.

I'll copy Ken and say it was an "ok" album

Well, I am. Maybe you only listened to a few cuts... In any event, I think its a kick ass debut...nice rhythm and blues, reminiscent of Marvin Gaye

Well, Van Hunt isnt legendary in that respect. But his voice and music carry similarities. Maybe you got hyped, Method? I just happen to think its a well produced good times album...its refreshing after all the rap stuff that constitutes the majoriy of urban releases today..at least to me, but im old school, so what do I know.

relax dude, i'm not trying to attack you. I just happen to disagree about that artist. I find nothing special about Van hunt because the sound is the same, very predictable songs and overall a normal album that everybody will like. I like to listen to artists that have something different to offer. Not anything special just something that you've never heard before. Even a small "scratch" or slide makes a huge difference

Van Hunt is just very normal for me

I'm relaxed  I agree that they are not cutting edge. Perhaps its their return to nice melodies and good musicianship and rhythm and blues that attracts me to his sound. Retro R & B, if you will. Wouldnt it make good dance music at your pub?

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
