I know what you mean. I have capped them for less I'll tell you. :) I have never had a problem with the avatar thingy. I figgered one of the resident experts would holler at you before now. I'm sure you will get it fixed soon. Even if you get it fixed, please feel free to cap a liberal.

If I could count the number of threads here that end up talking about rednecks.....

I had the same problem with my avatar, it would resize it to the size of the new one, but not the image. I cleared my cookies and cache and it worked fine. btw, using Firefox 0.8.

Hey kiwi...is that tattoo related to Twisted Metal at all? Looks similar.

It is a mozilla issue.

Whenever I upload a new custom avatar, it simply displays and distorts my existing avatar in the preview.

Using IE6, it's fine.

What skin I use makes no difference. It's a browser issue.

See what I mean when I say Mozilla isn't an omnipotent nirvana of web browsing?

I just did a test right now, at first, when browsing the boards, my avatar was simply my previous one distorted, but just after I posted this message, it changed to the one I uploaded right before my eyes.

cheers ken....you are correct..it is a mozilla problem, and, as a consequence of my blind alliegance to trend and fashion, i can tell you that this has seriously shaken my faith in human nature..... not to mention mozilla, the icon of which now glares at me suspiciously from the corner of my destop as i browse beatking with ie6 and look hopefully at the latest release of opera..

Odd.

Since the avatar issue, I've uninstalled and reinstalled firefox. It's been "fun with computers" lately.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
