What is ProtoWall?

(from http://www.bluetack.co.uk/pwhelp/)

If you p2p like I do, you cannot have enough security against prying eyes that have invaded the community. Drastic measures have been taken by the likes of the Riaa and Mpaa, as well as all the Sub-Contracted cronnies of the movie and record industry. Introducing their worst nightmare. "ProtoWall + The Bluetack Blocklist manager". ProtoWall Blocks incoming packets from Internet addresses that are on the Bluetack Blocklist. The Blocklist is supported Globally and then is sorted (Overlapping Resolved) and then converted to various formats (ProtoWall, PeerGuardian, Emule, ect.).

Why does ProtoWall Standout above the rest?

External Firewall blockers are complete resource hogs and have a tendecy to crash your system, but with Protowall it is Xp Driver Based, which means it blocks packets at system level which is extremely fast. Protowall uses less than 1% cpu usage, even under heavy upload/downloading and much more accurate in packet blocking.

Does ProtoWall contain Spyware?

Absolutely Not! There are no hidden programs in ProtoWall and the code has not been released to the general public, to avoid cloning. The Bluetack

team is committed to provide a p2p Security system free of any devious malware/spyware.

How much does ProtoWall and the Blocklist Manager cost?

ProtoWall and The Blocklist Manager and support are free of charge!

Is ProtoWall a complete Firewall?

No, it is not! ProtoWall only blocks Ip's (internet addresses) that are recieved from The Blocklist manager or manually installed by you. I run Protowall along side of my Norton Firewall with no problems.

What Protocol's doe ProtoWall Block?

IP/ICMP/TCP/UDP/HOPOPTS/IGMP/GGP/IPV4/ST/EGP/PIGP/RCCMON/NVPII/PUP/ARGUS/EMCON/CHAOS/MUX/MEAS/HMP/PRM/IDP/TRUNK1/

TRUNK2/LEAF1/LEAF2/RDP/IRTP/TP/BLT/NSP/INP/SEP/3PC/IDPR/XTP/DDP/CMTP/TPXX/IL/IPV6/SDRP/ROUTING/FRAGMENT/IDRP/RSVP/

GRE/MHRP/BHA/ESP/AH/INLSP/SWIPE/NHRP/MOBILE/TLSP/SKIP/ICMPV6/NONE/DSTOPTS/AHIP/CFTP/HELLO/SATEXPAK/KRYPTOLAN/RVD/

IPPC/ADFS/SATMON/VISA/IPCV/CPNX/CPHB/WSN/PVP/BRSATMON/ND/WBMON/WBEXPAK/EON/VMTP/SVMTP/VINES/TTP/IGP/DGP/TCF/IGRP/

OSPFIGP/SRPC/LARP/MTP/AX25/IPEIP/MICP/SCCSP/ETHERIP/ENCAP/APES/GMTP/IPCOMP/PIM/PGM/

ProtoWall is a new IP blocking program that will Block all connections made by tcp-ip/Udp/icmp/IGMP and raw ip.

It is driver based,so it will Block the packets that are sent Before than most firewall's will ever see it.

ProtoWall was made by DUDEZ before Peerguardian was adjusted to use less ram and cpu,it was not made to hurt Peerguardian,

but to offer more protection to people that don't have the computer power the run Peerguardian.

ProtoWall is availably for windows xp,2000 and 2003 server,as with the driver that it needs to install it will not work on windows 9x or me

(sorry guys)

ProtoWall will log all connections to your machine in and out and offer the direction of the traffic,so that you can better see what is going on

while you are online,as in the log you can see the port, direction the traffic is going and the type of traffic that it is.

ProtoWall is Fully supported by The Blocklist Manager,as it will allow for import and export of the ip filter files and it will import log files

from ProtoWall to get more information from the logs

To answer the first question:

It's well worth having.

No it's not.

It stops you getting sued.

Like they would use known IPs.

It's better than nothing.

Not if innocent people get their IP caught up in it.

That is a 1/100000000000 chance

About the same chance of catchinig a bad IP then?

....and so on

To answer the second question, I don't know.

Products like these are not the answer P2P needs. These products are worse than useless because all it takes is one IP address to slip though this "wall" and gather the information on someone.

This product is wose than useless because it gives some people a false sense of security. That in of itself is worse than not using it at all. thumbsdown thumbsdown thumbsdown thumbsdown thumbsdown

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
