just a thought but, I wish we could be more selective about what goes on the front page, some articles classify as news in entertainment and music but you might not want your personal comments on the front page. any thoughts?

It is really a function of the news mods and admins to clean up anything that doesnt seem appropriate... We are currently working on a site redesign where the front page artilcles will be categorized...it should look a lot cleaner then

But in the meantime, and as a general rule, I would lead with the article first and then your comments... (You should probably edit your recent post to this format)

but you might not want your personal comments on the front page

you should post your opinion articles in the opinion section. They don't go to the front page

method, I meant sometimes you personalize the article with some comments leading into it, knowing those articles automatically go on the front page it may limit what you say, I just removed my comments about the johnny cash article because I thought maybe it would sound like I was criticizing his family, lol, I wouldn't have cared so much if it wasn't on the front page.

That's what we like here at beatking. Articles containing the opinion of the reader. I personally like to see all articles be followed by an opinion. You shouldn't remove it. Now go back and put it again

Article 37 ; subsection 11b

Do whatever you think you can get away with. If pressured, quit it.

Well on the subject of the front page.. I'm not sure what desktop resolutions you people run at but it's obviously higher than mine considering you have that internet radio link which is stretching the tables out.

In case you are wondering, I run 1024 x 768 as do most people.

It's in all skins, I've confirmed it. It displays correctly in Opera as method said though.

I see the pics fine with IE, but I think it's a little much to take the photo along with the link.

PM the pic location of the pic to one of the ADMINS along with the tread location so we can upload the image here and add it to the post

what i meant was............I don't mind copying and putting the link but I think it's too much for me to take their photos too, I feel like I'm robbing their format also.

no des. Adding a photo next to the article happens in all sites. You don't steal anything. If you don't want the same pic then choose another one but adding a pic is nobody's copyright

I've seen it both ways in the pictures, but it's not appearing now. I have the black skin....

So I like the little pics next to the news - looks good. I suppose as long as you don't take the pic from today's version of the Yahoo page or anything, it'll be ok...

I have to compliment the front page - after checking to see if method's layout was showng up for me - I had to say the site looks pretty sharp - nice job.

well, it's starting to get old now when you post a pic and you can't control where it's placed in the post, then someone has to move it for you, plus once you paste, you can't back space at the top of the article, you have to delete and repaste, plus, lol if you decide it should go into a different forum you have to IM someone, I just think we should all have control over our own posts. ( sorry, I forgot, you can delete and just do the whole thing over again to move it)

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
