50 Cent enlisted comedy legend Joan Rivers to make a cameo in his commercial for his Street King energy drink. Decked out in chinchilla, the feisty icon tries her best to seduce the beefed-up MC in the ad, which will also feature Fiddy’s label signee and MTV star, Pauly D. In between takes at a NYC-area Planet Fitness where they were shooting the commercial, Rivers chatted with MTV News and we just had to know: Is 50 Cent funny?

“He is adorable,” she dished. “I didn’t know what to expect. I thought I was going to get a smart-ass rapper and he is adorable and smart and cute and funny. He’s just adorable. He certainly understands what we’re doing, which is lovely cause he’s making it fun to improvise.”

There was certainly lots of improvising going on in terms of the ways that she tried to seduce the rapper. We weren’t on hand to see if she was successful (we’ll have to wait for the finished product), but she seemed a bit surprised that we were surprised by the pairing.

“Yes, excuse me! Why so surprised?” she joked. “I dated his father a dollar thirty for years. We were an item. People thought it was what I cost, but we were an item. 50 can be my son, 50 can be my lover. We could have dated with Demi and Ashton, if this was two years ago.”

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
