Cash Money Records added Mystikal to their ever-expanding roster back in December, and this week the New Orleans rapper released the video for “Original,” which was his first single on the label. The Gil Green-directed clip features both Lil Wayne and Birdman as they welcome Mystikal to the lavish lifestyle of a YMCMB rapper. The video includes a million dollar mansion, beautiful women everywhere, and plenty of luxury whips. Mack Maine also makes an appearance as they rep the team under a pricey crystal chandelier.

Mystikal Confirms Cash Money Deal, Debuts 'Original' With Lil Wayne, Birdman

The news of Mystikal's deal with YMCMB hit the net in December 2011 via Twitter. However Mystikal officially announced his deal with Cash Money Records the old-fashioned way, through song. Mystikal released "Original " in mid-December after it was leaked just a few days prior. Earlier this year the MC also released a statement explaining how excited he was to have become a part of the YMCMB family. “It has been a truly long time since I have felt like a rapper and with this signing, and partnership, Birdman and Slim have given me my life as a rapper back,” Mystikal says. “I am ready to go.”

Mystikal’s album is set to drop later this year and will feature appearances from Busta Rhymes and Rick Ross. This will be his first album since 2001’s Tarantula due to his 6-year stint in prison for sexual battery and extortion charges. Before his bid, he was known as one of the most popular members from Master P’s No Limit Records. Will he reclaim the throne?

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
