Ray J is finally opening up about his anguish over Whitney Houston, who many say he was romantically linked to at the time of her death. During a press conference for the Brotherhood Crusade and Mothers in Action Organizations in Los Angeles on Friday (March 9), Ray J got choked up as he remembered Whitney. “I really miss my friend, you know, I really do. I’m still hurting.” The 31-year old continued, “I’m really emotional right now, I really don’t know what to say. It’s just such a tough time for me. I’ve been through a lot in these past two weeks. I’m able to look at life in a whole different way.”

He then shared that charitable work has helped him get through the tough time. “Like Whitney, I love giving back to kids,” he said. “I enjoy being around people that support me and that give me a sense of peace, and that’s what these kids do for me.”

Whitney and Ray J shared an unlikely relationship over the years and rumors swirled about a romantic link as early as 2007. Despite the 17-year age difference, they were seen at industry gatherings like Jay-Z and LeBron James' All-Star game party as well as romantic dinners in Los Angeles at hot spots like Crustacean. Whitney and Ray were seen together in Los Angeles as recently as February 3rd.
