Thomas Bartlett's 5/5/04 Wednesday Morning Downloads include:

• Stephin Merritt's "It's Only Time," the Magnetic Fields, from "i"

• The Beta Band's Heroes to Zero's. Bartlett feals that the Beta Band is one of the few groups who legitimately are following in the Beatle's footsteps.

* "Faultered Ego," On!Air!Library!, from "On!Air!Library!" Like its fellow new bands-- Calla, Asobi Seksu, TV on the Radio, and Interpol-OAL epitomizes the new NY rock indie scene.

• "Rita," Los Lobos, from "The Ride" Guest vocalists include Tom Waits, Richard Thompson, Elvis Costello, Cafe Tacuba, Ruben Blades and Mavis Staples. Lead singer Hidalgo takes center stage on "Rita," the album's most memorable track. "Demons," n.Lannon, from "Chemical Friends"

• I Never Heard - Nyles Lannon - from "Chemical Friends." Lannon is the guitarist for the band Film School and has also released electronic music under the name n.ln. "Demons." To be released by Badman Records in June, the same lable that brought you Lanterna.
